Also big news with the airline workers considering a strike. That would probably open up the government for a short period of time at least.

Pretty sure govt. employees aren't allowed to strike (well they can, they just put themselves at risk), they in theory could lose their jobs (they don't have the same rights that private workers have). So yeah, this is going to get interesting.

I have a bet with a co-worker on the shutdown date - valentines day - i took the under (so i win if the govt. opens before valentines day). Made this bet like 10+ days ago figured it'd be an easy win for me now i'm not so sure lol

Yeah my job is not allowed to strike, and we are unionized. But we are currently still protected from the shutdown and are getting paid thankfully

yeah, probably similar situation, except you're not a federal govt. employee? (i assume) or are you a state employee? not sure the details, but federal govt. employees aren't allowed to strike. Although most employees that are forced to work & are currently not receiving pay will in fact get all their pay (after the shutdown ends), Some federal contractors have missed almost a months worth of salary and won't be getting paid, that's some f'd up sh*t
