“We’re going to be an up-tempo, attacking-style offense,” said McAdoo.

This quote makes me overjoyed.... I can't stop thinking of the possibilites

Rodgers said McAdoo was the one who put together the red-zone plays..... that alone is worth the hiring.

Yeah, and Eli seem to do his best when he was doing up-tempo toward the end of the 4th quarter.

Imagine him doing it early on.

I love the direction this team is going into but I'm baffled as to why we let go Mike Pope and Gerald Ingram. Both of those guys were excellent coaches, our best position coaches on the team. It makes me think McAdoo has some of his guys in mind, also he was a TE coach for much of his career. Pope was with our organization for over 2 decades. Truly the best at his job.

Ingram was one of the best RB coaches in the league and spent 22 years with Coughlin.

I guess they just want new blood, new ideas.... but it makes no sense that we retained Tom Quinn, Sean Ryan and Gilbride jr.

All 3 are horrible coaches, Quinn's ST's have been atrocious for years, Sean Ryan hasn't done a good job with Eli at all, and as soon as Gilbride jr came aboard our receiving corps has been the worst it's ever been.

Makes little sense.

Sad to see my friend & Giants RB coach, Jerald Ingram let go by Coughlin..every good run ends! Prob a whole new offensive staff coming in.

"With the hiring of Ben McAdoo as the Giants’ new offensive coordinator, here is a look at what they’re saying around the league about Big Blue’s coaching changes:

Jason La Canfora | CBS Sports

"McAdoo worked for [Dolphins coach Joe] Philbin in Green Bay, but he gets the opportunity to blaze his own trail with the Giants and work with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and a franchise that prizes stability.”

Dan Graziano | ESPN.com

“They're taking a chance on a fresh, new face with ideas that differ from theirs. They're dipping their staid blue toe into new waters, mainly out of an admission that what they were doing for so long had stopped working. It's a pretty big deal, and however it works out, it speaks to the state of the franchise right now. After 10 years of Manning and Coughlin, they don't believe their run is coming to an end, but they're at least admitting to themselves that they'll need to try something different if they want to be right.”

Paul Imig | FOX Sports

“With all of the interviews that Ben McAdoo had set up across the league, the Green Bay Packers knew it was a matter of when -- not if -- they lost their quarterbacks coach. That time came Tuesday night when McAdoo was hired to be the new offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.”

Bill Pennington | The New York Times

“Eli Manning, who appeared to be part of the hiring process, said he talked with McAdoo last week. Manning is coming off one of the most difficult seasons of his career, throwing a team-record 27 interceptions. Rebuilding Manning’s confidence will be a focus for McAdoo, who, in a statement, promised an ‘up-tempo, attacking offense.’”

Gregg Rosenthal | NFL.com

“The decision wraps up a busy couple of weeks for McAdoo. He interviewed for the Miami Dolphins' vacant OC job, and NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Baltimore Ravens also had a request in to speak with him. McAdoo also spoke with the Cleveland Browns about their head coaching position. McAdoo was well respected for his work with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay the last two seasons as QB coach. He was also the team's tight ends coach previously, joining Mike McCarthy's staff in 2006. McAdoo replaces Kevin Gilbride, who held the job as Giants offensive coordinator since 2007.”

wtf? they should reverse those staff change.

I thought Quinn was sure to go..

also, fun fact on Pope, he's only guy to have his name on all of 4 SB trophies for giants.

Yup I read that this morning too.

I think he'll retire rather than sign elsewhere. Guy loves his job though. Sad to see him go.

I really really hope we bring back Nicks now with this new offense. I always wanted him back unlike a lot of Giants fans, I still love Nicks.

Just a look at how the Giants have been over the past 9 years. I picked 2005 as my starting point because that was Eli's first year starting.

Since 2005:
-The Giants have posted a 92-63 record (.594 winning percentage)
-They have made 5 playoff appearances with an 8-3 record
-They have 3 division titles, 2 conference championships, and 2 Super Bowl championships

How does this match up to other teams in that same time period? Let's check our top two division rivals:

Eagles:
-79-72-1 record (.523 winning percentage)
-5 playoff appearances (3-5 record)
-3 division titles, 0 conference championships, 0 Super Bowl championships

Cowboys:
-82-66 record (.554 winning percentage)
-3 playoff appearances (1-3 record)
-2 division titles, 0 conference championships, 0 Super Bowl championships

In the rest of the NFC, only the Saints and Packers have had comparable success:

Saints:
-89-65 record (.578 winning percentage)
-5 playoff appearances (5-4 record)
-3 division titles, 1 conference championship, 1 Super Bowl win

Packers:
-92-62-1 (.594 winning percentage)
-6 playoff appearances (5-5 record)
-4 division titles, 1 conference championship, 1 Super Bowl win

In the AFC, only the Ravens, Steelers, Patriots, and Colts have a higher winning percentage since 2005.

Ravens:
-95-63 record (.601 winning percentage)
-6 playoff appearances (9-5 record)
-4 division titles, 1 conference championship, 1 Super Bowl win

The Colts and Patriots, naturally, are amazing as far as their consistency goes.

Colts:
-106-52 record (.671 winning percentage)
-8 playoff appearances (7-7 record)
-6 division titles, 2 conference championships, 1 Super Bowl win

Patriots:
-119-41 record (.744 winning percentage)
-8 playoff appearances (8-7 record)
-8 division titles, 2 conference championships, 0 Super Bowl wins

The only other team to win multiple Super Bowls since 2005 is the Steelers.

Steelers:
-98-57 record (.632 winning percentage)
-5 playoff appearances (8-3 record)
-3 division titles, 3 conference championships, 2 Super Bowl wins

So it's worth keeping a few things in mind as Giants fans:

-Over the past 8 seasons, no NFC East team has had the success the Giants have had.

-Only 4 other teams have more wins than the Giants since 2005 (*this might be wrong, as I didn't check all 32 teams).

-Only the Ravens have won more playoff games

-Only the Steelers have appeared in more Super Bowls

-Nobody has won more Super Bowls than the Giants, and only one team has matched them.

Being a fan of an NFL team means dealing with a lot of frustration, but the Giants have given us some great times in recent years.

We've been very lucky.

I still like him, would love to resign him only for right price.
