David Diehl set to retire :(

Sad day in Giants land.... this guy, a 5th round draft pick is the epitome of a champion... a warrior unmatched.

They don't get better than David Diehl in the 5th round. Hell... that's great value in the 1st.

Did everything ever asked of him, loyal as they come. Class act.

Reese and Banks said it best.... you win with guys like David Diehl.

Many fans myself included ragged on Diehl towards the end of his career but it was moreso the coaching staff forcing him as a starter that we hated.

One of my favorite Giants, will truly be missed. Hope he sticks around the organization. Will always be a fan favorite.

SO ECSTATIC about this hire...... a new offensive scheme has been a LONG time coming for this organization.

“We’re going to be an up-tempo, attacking-style offense,” said McAdoo. “We’re going to play with good energy. And we’re going to rely on fundamentals.”

Music to Giants fans ears...... Eli in the no huddle/up tempo is his bread and butter... something we NEVER used unless it was the 2 minutes left on the clock.

Cruz is going to be even better in an uptempo WC style offense like this. 3 WR sets....... utilizing the TE, quick passes, slants, SCREEN PASSES!!!

McAdoo will finally teach the Giants how to run and execute a screen pass which has been something that's been lacking in our offense forever.

Also McAdoo sounds like he will bring the role of a TE back to life in this offense. Been a LONG time coming.....

Can't say enough about the excitement a new fresh, innovative, non-complacent offense.

McAdoo could also be groomed as the heir apparent to Coughlin in 3-4 years or however long Coughlin decides he wants to continue coaching. TC said he has no plans to retire and still loves his job and McAdoo hasn't even coached a down yet for us so to speculate on that is silly. I think they make a great pair though.

Rodgers on McAdoo

Quote
“I told him this actually. I said, ‘When there was an opening as Joe left and Tom (Clements) moved up, I said I thought having a guy who played the position was right for me at that point,’” Rodgers recounted on his weekly radio show on 540 ESPN, 100.5 FM ESPN and ESPNWisconsin.com last week. “But I told Ben this: ‘Ultimately, I need and have always needed a guy who gets me prepared every week, that can give me the opportunities to reach my potential.’

“Ben did that every day the last two seasons for me and the other quarterbacks in the room. It was fun to see his personality continue to come out this year as we became closer and he just allowed himself to relax and be comfortable in those rooms. It helped having a great quarterback room with Seneca and Scott and Matt. It was a lot of fun for me and a lot of fun for us, as well.”

Asked what changed about their relationship, Rodgers replied: “Just spending time together. You can’t help but respect Ben the more time you spend with him because he really cares about his job. He spends a lot of time there. He puts a lot of effort into our reminder stuff. He listens when you talk. He asks good questions. He understands the nature of certain conversations that need to stay in the room [and] which need to be filtered up the chain of command. He’s a guy who wants to learn and takes to heart the things I say or the things he hears from Tom [Clements] and tried to become a better quarterbacks coach every day. And he did.

“I think he’s beginning to really understand scheme and preparation and how to install plays. I think he did a great job the last couple years installing the red zone [plays]. You saw him in front of the room every week and every week he got more comfortable and put more into his presentation, and more of his personality came out. There were jokes and an ability to control the room. Obviously, the people who are interested in him for a head-coaching job haven’t seen that, but to me that’s an important quality of a head coach. The ability to control a room with your speech, (or) with humor when necessary. He proved it every day that he was a very prepared coach. And I’m happy for him getting opportunities.”

"Young up & coming impressing coach"

"Rising star"

The wait for each season is generally pretty brutal for me. But this one especially will be long with the excitement of a new offense.

McAdoo was well respected for his work with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay the last two seasons as QB coach. He was also the team's tight ends coach previously, joining Mike McCarthy's staff in 2006. McAdoo replaces Kevin Gilbride, who held the job as Giants offensive coordinator since 2007. Perhaps hiring McAdoo instead of Sullivan, who learned under Gilbride, was a sign the Giants didn't want the same old offense.

Nice!

Now I'm happy
