Mara notes from Francessa interview:John Mara on now....
Quote
-talking about superbowl weather
-regrets saying this was the most talented team on paper in 10 years...and they over-evaluated several players
-talking about how many injuries we had
-francesca brought up Jernigan....Mara somewhat retracting his statement ...saying JJ was hurt a lot thats why he hasnt played much
-insisting that Gilbride retired and was not forced out...he also is praising KG saying he coordinated 2x superbowls for us...
-TC and Jerry are interviewing OC right now (i believe thats what Mara just said)
-commenting on Coughlin's age..saying TC still has the energy and motivation
-"we need to get better players in here; mainly the offensive line"
-wouldnt trade either superbowl trophy to make the playoffs more consistently (clearly he doesnt post on Giants MB haha)
-Mara says we need some help on offense....will address in draft and FA
-game that bothered him the most was the 2nd Dallas game...and how our defense let them go right down the field on their last drive
- really liked the 2013 draft class and our first three picks (pugh, moore, hankings) look like they will be very good contributors
- Goal is to improve personnel...especially on offensive side of the ball
- David Wilson injury hurt us....hopefully he can play for us next year...."id like to see wilson healthy an entire season before i downgrade him"
- hopefully will get Andre Brown back, may have to look into draft for RB position
-he says he would love to have Justin Tuck back...but it has to be the right cap number
- Nicks was great his first 3 years...but this year was alarming....still thinks he can be a good player in NFL
- hes against additional playoff games and does not like 18 game schedule
- 2 preseason games is probably enough
-WE are talking to at least 4 individuals for Off. Cord....doesnt have exact time table
-Mara: "I'd like to see Ryan Nassib play in next year's preseason. I'd like to know what we have in Nassib."

Francesa asked how close they are to hiring a new OC. Mara said the 4 candidates they've interviewed have been discussed in the papers, and they may interview some more. Could be a couple weeks, he's not sure at this point.

said they need to get better personnel. gonna look at offense in both the draft and free agency. said some times things get stale and you need to bring in fresh minds (referring to the offense- so maybe sullivan isnt as big of a favorite as we thought) and he made it sound like coughlin and reese were in agreement that we need some different minds

Mara also mentioned how it's unbelievable what the Patriots have been able to do, year in year out. He spoke in admiration of what they've been able to accomplish, but seemed to imply there's an organization out there that's doing it better, and lessons to be learned from them.
Mara didn't place the blame of this season at the feet of any individual or coach, rather he answered most questions as "All of the above". His tone was that of disappointment, but a strong belief in Coughlin and the current staff to get things turned around
