Commercial uses the high voltage, low amperage because its more efficient for motors etc but there aren't a ton of houses (at least in my area) using 3phase unless we do an elevator but even then its just a converter
Nah you're right on with commercial using 3 phase ABC 120/208, 277/480 etc. But for subdivisions I will use single phase ABC 120/240 and "break out" individual legs/phases to feed transformers as needed to diversify the load so that's where I'd be using C. Each individual house still gets a single phase service drop too, so 3 wires total just like you were saying.
