Time for random notes from game day.
Nelson's 93 yard TD gives him 2 TDs of 80+ yards on the season, which ties the franchise record held by Driver, Jennings, Freeman, and Billy Howton. It's the third of his career, which ties him for second all time with the franchise, behind only Jennings who has 4.
For the first time in his career, James Jones has a TD in 3 straight games. He's sure to be scooped up by desperate fantasy owners everywhere. His TD catch on a play action boot was a play designed to be thrown to the flat. Rodgers said the only other time he has made that throw was in training camp in 2006.
Burnett racked up 9 tackles as well as a forced fumble, and said he felt good playing out there. Hopefully the hand heals quick.
Great to have Bulaga back and happy to see Zombo slowly getting back to game speed.
Only 2 injuries - Ryan Taylor had an insignificant elbow injury that didn't keep him out of the game. Then there's Shields with the head injury. We'll get an up date on that tomorrow hopefully, but probably Wednesday or Tuesday.
Theme of the week is a countdown to 7-0. Interesting choice by McCarthy on how he'll keep the team focused.
“We have long-term goals. We need to play better,” Rodgers said. - The way that he and McCarthy so flatly decline what they're doing and simply state that they need to do better dumbfounds me. The defense is finally rolling - you can rack up all the yards you want underneath coverage when you're down 21 points and the Packers are playing prevent. I'm starting to see a lot of comparisons to the 2007 Patriots...
