iso some car help fellas
got a coolant leak that drips over the top of the radiator.. whats best way to identify exactly where the leak is coming from? also what do shops usually charge to have them look and identify the problem?
best way is to clean the area of any coolant and buy/rent a coolant pressure tester.
pretty easy to use. remove cap. hook the pressure tester up. pressurize it (most are hand pump) and wait for a leak
cheapest way. clean the areas of the leak. let it get to operating temp/thermostat to open and start poking around
my guess is the coolant cap. seen it alot at a dealership i worked at. they get dry rotted and start leaking and people start replacing hoses/clamps/temp sensors/thermostats and never check the cap
call around to shops most have 50-80 dollar diagnostic fees and some waive them if you buy the part/pay for the labor to have them do it.
