Oh man this is perfect!
Personal blog time. Last weekend I started fixing my tie rod ends and get the tire off and can instantly tell my life is gonna be miserable. 10 year old car with 10 year old tie rod ends with 130k miles of Minnesota winter driving. This fucking nut I am trying to get off is welded on. I set the bitch on fire, used a bottle of pb blaster. Can't get that fucking thing to budge. So I went online and ordered my first impact wrench and it just got here. Pretty excited to try it, but if this doesn't work I'm still gonna have to pay someone 500 fucking dollars to change a 50 dollar part.
Do you mean welded on figuratively or metaphorically? lol
I'm guessing you're referring to the castle nut?
It might be that the ball/socket is all worn out and just spinning. Impact wrench can sometimes get that off, but you might just have to cut it off with a whizz-wheel or nut-splitter.
Or maybe the lock nut. Since you're going to be replacing the nut anyway, just cut it off or use a monkey wrench.
