his nickname is Jeff backus up 5 more yards for a false start. i dont think hes bad but hes gotta step his game up now that we have a qb worth protecting. i admire his passion for the team but hes gotta do a little better this year

havnt really been reading my emails from nfl since the off season. or maybe i just listen to to much of the huge show. didnt say he was doing terrible but he is getting older

Jeff Backus isn't a top five LT, he isn't the youngest, and he isn't the greatest but i'll take him over about 80% of all other LTs in the league.

He was tied for 14th with like 4 other guys so hes between 14-18. So I guess hes average, but the missed blocks and penalties overshadow the good plays in my mind.

Did I say to replace him? We saw how bad that looked in the cowboys game last year. To consider him top 10 is a joke though. He is not a good LT. He is average at best. A majority of our pressure comes from him. To consider Riola & Peterman a bigger issue than Backus is just stupid.

Edit: I will give you credit in saying that Backus has improved a ton in the past 2 years. But his "improvement" has only brought him up to mediocrity at best.

Jeff Backus looks horrible because our running game is horrible and why is our running game horrible? Because of the interior linemen.

Replace interior linemen = better running game = less pass rushers pinning their helmets back and going hard off the edge. As a linebacker I'm well aware of this. If a team has a horrible running game Im going full speed off the edge.

And if your talking about stopping D. Ware your fucking crazy. He's one of the best passers in the new era of football.
