It started off really terrible and got better as it went on.

At last, my thesis director has OK'd my thesis for distribution to the rest of my committee. Just working out a thesis defense date.

Can finally be done with school... as a student, at least. Still plan on teaching at my local Comm. college until I get the necessary certifications to teach 6-12 in MD.

Congrats man, that's gotta be an amazing feeling. Good you're still planning on teaching, we need as many competent teachers as we can possibly get.

I can count on 1 hand how many competent teachers I have had in my life and almost all of them were college level. It's terrible what gets put into these positions. And it's even worse for my kids now that I live a decent ways away from the nice suburbs.

I had a couple teachers in my early education that I enjoyed because they actually challenged me, but from 6th grade on I never once had a competent teacher who still gave a shit about their job. There was a handful that you knew could be good if they still tried, but students or the whole system had beaten them into being shitty teachers. I have been fortunate to have pretty much all fantastic teachers now that I'm back in school, but the few I've had outside the Computer Network Administration program have all been completely fucking useless dumbasses who constantly talked down to their students.

My 4th grade teacher was a saint. She was from a rich family and was only a teacher because she loved it. She was like 55 or 60 at the time bUT just an amazing woman. And 1 high school teacher during the year I was in an inner-city school. He was a younger guy but his passion was obvious. He worked in a shitty high school where everyone was a piece of shit just to try and get through to the kids. You could tell it was eating his soul though. Everyone else was just fucking miserable. And I sure as fuck didn't help any because, as you can probably tell, I was always getting on their nerves lol.
