I don’t know the rules for anything but modern and standard. And I’m not tryna spend 800$ on a tron deck.

Even the red white burn deck I built cost 350 range, the pain lands alone are like 25 dollars a piece

You've never done a MTG draft? It's like $15. Rules are easy; they'll explain it before you start.

I'd never pay for a standard deck lol. Just drafts and casual.

I have like 50 lands in some boxes that were on ebay for like 40 bucks each a few years back. Pretty fucking crazy lands are that expensive

I have a black lotus in mint condition.

I’ve done a draft in the sense of we bought the big box and rotate the piles of cards to pick out our decks but I’ve never been to an organized one. I didn’t even know they did that. I’ve only ever been to tourneys or pre release tournaments.

I guess it depends on your store, but FNM where I live is always draft, usually draft + standard.

Draft levels the playing field between the rich and the poor. Plus you get that lottery appeal of getting a good pull. That's why I like it. Plus the people there are cool.

Do you keep your cards? How do you end up with enough lands to make the deck work?

Same. I have a couple.... but seriously there's thousands and thousands of dollars worth of cards in my basement that my sister left here. It's fucking bonkers

They provide lands. And ofc you keep your cards; you paid $15 to draft them lol. Plus you win packs or store credit for doing well.

Oh I figured you were paying for the prizes if you win. So does strategy go out the window if you are on like the 5th pack and open up 1st and there's a 100 dollar card?
