Matter of fact, there's a thread about 5 threads up from the bottom (if you have it on 50 threads per page) titled "Jags have a serious interest in Tebow". That I just went over this very same topic last night.

well i havent looked in them threads because tebow obviously isnt going to jacksonville, nn for me to open a rumor thread to jacksonville wen he is on his way to the big apple
i made the comment after the trade was made, i opened that rumor thread, saw the OP heard the jets traded for him and closed the thread, therefore if u posted your qb prediction, i didnt see because i didnt look through the threads

Wasn't a prediction really, because Gabbert will/should be the starter. It was pretty much me breaking down why it's retarded to give up on Gabbert after 14 games. For like the 15th time :-/

imo its not gabbert anyway, its his surrounding cast
why dont the jags go after a proven vet with a lot of potential still in T.o.??
evans>t.o?
i think not

when was the last time that team had a clear cut number 1 receiver, right now they have nothing more then a practice squad guy as their number 1 raking in 400 yards ALL YEAR?
obviously im no jags fan but that o-line doesnt help much either, gabbert on the ground getting sacked over twice a game

We had a turn-stile playing RT, named Guy Whimper. He gave up a leagues high 15 sacks. He was our 3rd string RT, because our starter and back up were put on IR towards the start of the season.

We haven't had a legit #1 since Jimmy Smith. Hell, we haven't had jack at WR since Jimmy Smith. Robinson will be our #2 now that we signed him, but we still need a #1. Mike Thomas is our #3/slot receiver. We have decent depth at WR now, but without a true #1 play making WR, having a bunch of #3 and #4 WRs isn't going to get the job done. We really do need to draft Michael Floyd. He could step in and be a legit #1 WR for many, many years and he could grow with Gabbert.

T.O is not the answer.

Welcome to the Devil's Advocate.

Each week, I'll look at an issue from opposing sides, arguing both ends against the middle. Today's topic is: the best defense in the AFC South. Remember, there is another side to this (and most every) debate.

Earlier today, I argued that the Texans have the best defense, but I've since changed my mind. The Jacksonville Jaguars clearly have the best defense in the division.

While the Texans led in some conventional metrics in 2011, the Jaguars were secretly the more elite unit. The Football Outsiders' DVOA metric loved them; it had Jacksonville in the top five of both run and pass defense. The Jaguars were flat-out better than the Texans.

How could that be when the Texans allowed fewer points?

Traditional metrics don't really tell you how well a defense played. They only hint at it. The Texans had one massive advantage that the Jags didn't when it came to defense: a fully functional offense.

How does offense skew defensive metrics? It's simple: field position and turnovers lead to points. The Jaguars had four truly horrible defensive games in which they gave up 141 points in just four games.

Of course, the Jags offense helped out, with 11 turnovers in those games. The lousy offensive performances tilted the playing field against the Jaguars defensive unit.

Additionally, the Jags defense was forced to be on the field two-and-a-half minutes longer per game than the Texans D. It's nice to be able to sit on the sidelines and watch the other half of your team pick up first downs. The Jaguars had no such luxury.

On top of everything else, the Jags defense was far more complete than the Texans', easily topping Houston in run metrics and turnovers. The Jags were fourth in yards per carry in 2011 with Houston not even in the top 10.

But all the talk of 2011 is pointless. That season is done, and the Texans are primed for a major fall. They've lost multiple starters on defense, including Mario Williams. The Jaguars, on the other hand, have already added Aaron Ross to the mix at corner, providing more leadership and depth, while not losing anyone.

Want to talk about age?

The Jags are young, with only Rashean Mathis over 30, and he's not even expected to be a starter. Add another year of drafting much higher than the Texans, and there's no question that Jacksonville will be the best defense in the AFC South in 2012.

Unless of course the Titans get that pass-rusher...

Mularkey also said to start off, it'll be an open competition between Rashean Mathis and Aaron Ross at corner. #Jaguars

#Jaguars GM Gene Smith confirmed what we figured. He encouraged Matt Roth to seek opportunities w/other teams & is prepared to draft a DE.
