Last offseason, Tampa went big in both free agency and the draft, inking 2012 stars Vincent Jackson, Mark Barron, Doug Martin, Lavonte David and Carl Nicks before we even hit the summer.
In the hope that the club will repeat its willingness to open the bank account this year, we have ranked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' biggest positional needs for the offseason.
1. Cornerback
This one is a no-brainer.
Since Aqib Talib has been shipped away to New England and free-agent signee Eric Wright hasn't really excelled in his short time in Tampa, the team must be on the lookout for cornerback talent.
Seriously, we're talking about the NFL's 32nd-ranked pass defense.
2. Pass-rushing defensive end
The Bucs don't have much of a pass rush, unless you're impressed with the league's third-lowest sack total.
To fix this problem, the club should add a defensive end who specializes in rushing the quarterback.
More pressure on opponents means less time for receivers to get open. The run defense is so strong as is that the Bucs do not need to worry about the prospective pass-rusher's possible one-dimensionality.
3. Offensive tackle
The offensive line should be great. Entering the preseason, the starting lineup consisted of LT Donald Penn, LG Carl Nicks, C Jeremy Zuttah, RG Davin Joseph and RT Jeremy Trueblood, with the only weak spot being the right tackle.
Well, since then, they've lost former Pro Bowlers Nicks and Joseph to injury, and Trueblood has been benched in favor of Demar Dotson.
This leaves Penn and Zuttah as the only remaining starters.
Once everyone gets healthy, the talent is there, except at right tackle. The Bucs could move Penn, whose season has been very hot and cold, to the right side and replace him with a more consistent LT. Another option would be to leave him be and add a more experienced RT than what they currently have in Dotson.
Either way, the tackle position has to be addressed.
#2 I fundamentally disagree with. DT is a definate, but we have Clayborne Bennett and Bowers, all 3 of which have great chances of being great around Gmac and we do not need to shun one of them away.

As the debate rages regarding quarterback Josh Freeman's competency and value, the offense he directed this year is on the verge of becoming the most productive in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history.
When the Bucs take the field for their season finale against the Falcons on Sunday at the Georgia Dome, they will need only 3 yards and 22 points to break the franchise records for total yards and points in a season.
The franchise yardage record of 5,456 was set in 2008 and the points record of 388 in 2000.
This Bucs team already is the first to have a 3,500-yard passer in Freeman, a 1,300-yard rusher in rookie Doug Martin and a 1,300-yard receiver in Vincent Jackson. If Mike Williams gains 69 yards receiving on Sunday, it will be the first time the franchise had two 1,000-yard receivers in a season.
But wait, there's more.
The Bucs, who rank 10th in the league in total offense with a franchise-best 363.6 yards per game, also are on pace to set a franchise mark for average yards per offensive play at 5.8.
Freeman has already set the franchise record for passing yards in a season with 3,843 and needs one touchdown pass to break two more franchise records. He currently shares the single-season mark for touchdown passes in a season (26) with Brad Johnson and shares the career touchdown passing record (77) with Vinny Testaverde.
Freeman is also on the brink of becoming the most prolific running quarterback in franchise history. With 901 career rushing yards, he needs 5 yards to pass Testaverde for the most rushing yards by a Bucs quarterback.
Jackson needs 89 yards to pass Mark Carrier's single-season record of 1,422 receiving yards set in 1989.
