noticed something interesting about bthe bucs secondary, the worst in the league, compared to the best, the steelers. the bucs secondary, has twice as many picks. it would seem the bucs commit too much to anticipation, instead of being disciplined. the steelers defense does not give up big plays. they stay put, and play the play, instead of playing the play still in the pocket
you can put it on the incredibly inexperienced secondary, suspensions and all kinds of bs. i would put it more on play calling. playing too aggressive when you need to be conservative. and ya gotta pressure the qb. sometimes, pressure and hurried plays are better than sacks.

IMO it sounds like you havn't watched many of the Bucs games this season with the bolded comment. First half of the season, QBs couldn't stand still against us, we were constantly in the QB face with pressure and hurries, forcing bad throws etc (not sacks I know, but the hurries and pressures were there)

Cannot believe the bandwagon pathetic hatred of Freeman

i live in pa. ive only gotten to see 2 bucs games this year. just highlights. i saw the eagles game. they got some pressure, and some sacks. but foles had way too much time, and too much room to roam. containment broke down constantly
i wont hate on freeman. his stats are fantastic. 25-6 on tds/ints? something like that. 86 qb rating. his line though, losing 2 all pro lineman sucked. but san diego had way worse issues, but gave rivers time
if id rag on freeman on anything, its not stepping up when martin got stuffed. if ya look at the receivers yards, he focuses too much on jackson and williams. he doesnt spread the wealth enough, and that lets defenses cover his main targets forcing scrambles, sacks, and just throwing the ball away. though he just needs a better 3rd receiver, or underwood needs to step it up.

Dallas Clark has been quite disappointing this season, has been annoying that we don't have a go-to-guy for 3rd n long who will get it for us.
I see what you mean about the WR core, but I like Underwood and I also like Regis Benn, no idea why he's been put into just special teams / returning, he's a physical big receiver.

Freeman has had ups and downs - everyone forgets this is a brand new offense, brand new coaching staff, and everything is being taken in a different direction.

The absolute musts for draft are :
#1 Cornerback - we NEED a solid CB
#2 Defensive Tackle - we NEED someone to be as monstrous as McCoy, suddenly our Defense will be shit hot and getting sacks all over the place i guarantee it
#3 Safety - we need a replacement for Ronde, even if Ronde is here next year.
#4 - OL, whether it be a Trueblood replacement or not, we gotta bulk up our OL because when healthy, we are fucking dominant but we have sucha lack of depth and talent, it must be addressed.

Freeman will bounce back from this - 2013 will be a positive season, even if it's only 1 game positive.

BTW - Great pic of Bowers here

well clark is an excellent redzone weapon. i think as doug develops, he'll be awesome as a dump valve, and this should free clark up on those crucial 3rd downs. he'll come around, but more depth at TE cant hurt
we had a decent cb core at the start of the season. drafting a cb early one would be a good idea to fix the missfires in the secondary. i dont like the idea of getting a qb early. i dislike what harbaugh did to alex smith starting kapernick, and i dont wanna see that happen here. maybe a 4th or 5th round qb wouldnt be a bad idea
the offense is stacked. it just needs time to work out the kinks, and get timing and sync. if anything on offense with the draft or free agency, a FB to compliment martin. or move blount to fb. blount and martin in the backfeild at the same time? o...m...g... lo
2nd round id like a pick up at lb.someone quick enough to cover TE's like graham and gonzolez, but strong enough to get on the line and rush.

This season was bizarre. At the beginning they looked extremely solid on defense and had no offense and lately (the last few games excluded) they were an offensive powerhouse with a shitty defense (except against the run). Teams like the Patriots and the Packers have proven you can be bad on defense and still have tremendous success but I question whether or not this offense can ever become that consistent.

Been a while, have a bit of time, some nice articles I found

Last offseason, Tampa went big in both free agency and the draft, inking 2012 stars Vincent Jackson, Mark Barron, Doug Martin, Lavonte David and Carl Nicks before we even hit the summer.

In the hope that the club will repeat its willingness to open the bank account this year, we have ranked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' biggest positional needs for the offseason.

1. Cornerback

This one is a no-brainer.

Since Aqib Talib has been shipped away to New England and free-agent signee Eric Wright hasn't really excelled in his short time in Tampa, the team must be on the lookout for cornerback talent.

Seriously, we're talking about the NFL's 32nd-ranked pass defense.

2. Pass-rushing defensive end

The Bucs don't have much of a pass rush, unless you're impressed with the league's third-lowest sack total.

To fix this problem, the club should add a defensive end who specializes in rushing the quarterback.

More pressure on opponents means less time for receivers to get open. The run defense is so strong as is that the Bucs do not need to worry about the prospective pass-rusher's possible one-dimensionality.

3. Offensive tackle

The offensive line should be great. Entering the preseason, the starting lineup consisted of LT Donald Penn, LG Carl Nicks, C Jeremy Zuttah, RG Davin Joseph and RT Jeremy Trueblood, with the only weak spot being the right tackle.

Well, since then, they've lost former Pro Bowlers Nicks and Joseph to injury, and Trueblood has been benched in favor of Demar Dotson.

This leaves Penn and Zuttah as the only remaining starters.

Once everyone gets healthy, the talent is there, except at right tackle. The Bucs could move Penn, whose season has been very hot and cold, to the right side and replace him with a more consistent LT. Another option would be to leave him be and add a more experienced RT than what they currently have in Dotson.

Either way, the tackle position has to be addressed.

#2 I fundamentally disagree with. DT is a definate, but we have Clayborne Bennett and Bowers, all 3 of which have great chances of being great around Gmac and we do not need to shun one of them away.

As the debate rages regarding quarterback Josh Freeman's competency and value, the offense he directed this year is on the verge of becoming the most productive in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history.

When the Bucs take the field for their season finale against the Falcons on Sunday at the Georgia Dome, they will need only 3 yards and 22 points to break the franchise records for total yards and points in a season.

The franchise yardage record of 5,456 was set in 2008 and the points record of 388 in 2000.

This Bucs team already is the first to have a 3,500-yard passer in Freeman, a 1,300-yard rusher in rookie Doug Martin and a 1,300-yard receiver in Vincent Jackson. If Mike Williams gains 69 yards receiving on Sunday, it will be the first time the franchise had two 1,000-yard receivers in a season.

But wait, there's more.

The Bucs, who rank 10th in the league in total offense with a franchise-best 363.6 yards per game, also are on pace to set a franchise mark for average yards per offensive play at 5.8.

Freeman has already set the franchise record for passing yards in a season with 3,843 and needs one touchdown pass to break two more franchise records. He currently shares the single-season mark for touchdown passes in a season (26) with Brad Johnson and shares the career touchdown passing record (77) with Vinny Testaverde.

Freeman is also on the brink of becoming the most prolific running quarterback in franchise history. With 901 career rushing yards, he needs 5 yards to pass Testaverde for the most rushing yards by a Bucs quarterback.

Jackson needs 89 yards to pass Mark Carrier's single-season record of 1,422 receiving yards set in 1989.

I kind of agree with #3 up to as yes we have some good de's if they can stay healthy. Bowers has looked good when not injured but has had 2 major injuries in torn acl and achilles, those are probably two of the worst injuries for a d lineman. Also the bucs may not be able to keep Bennett could get a better offer from another team. And as it said we need a Pass Rushing Specialist none of these guys are pass rushing specialist they are just all around 4-3 who play both the run and the pass. We need someone we can throw in on passing downs to get after the qb that has the speed, quickness, as well as pass rushing skillset to get to the qb. Thats just my opinion, obviously Bennett, Bowers, and Clayborne could turn out to be that tho.

Also forgot to add more importantly I think we would be better off with a good Dt/nosetackle next to McCoy than another DE.
