Now if only we could utilize Cruz properly he'd have even better numbers. All these deep routes take away from what Cruz excels at....

Not hating that stat though B)

Kevin Gilbride Talks About Temptation To Make Drastic Changes In Giants' Offense

Quote

After four weeks of the season, the Giants are 23rd in total offense (325.5 yards/game), 10th in passing (267.8 yards/game) and 30th in rushing (57.8 yards/game).

They are dead last in third down conversion percentage (23), 30th in turnover ratio (-9) and second to last in time of possession (25:31 per game). The only team behind them in that category is the Philadelphia Eagles, who have a coach that admittedly doesn't believe in time of possession.

These are the numbers Kevin Gilbride looks at every day. He says it's "miserable."

But is it time to scrap the offense and start all over? The temptation is certainly there.

"I think you make some adaptations, we've been modifying every week with so many personnel changes, we haven't had the same group (for a game) yet," Gilbride said. But if you change too much, what happens is, you thought you made mistakes before? You make even more mistakes now. There's no question you do more efficiently the things we do often more."

A lot of Gilbride's struggles have been based around the offensive line. That, and the rotating cast at running back that has now changed yet again with the ouster of Da'Rel Scott.

Gilbride wouldn't get into his running deployment for Sunday.

"You have no choice, when you lose certain guys you have to adjust," he said. "Your whole thing is what can those guys do. Some guys can do things better than others. When that guy is gone and the next guy goes in, you say: 'Alright, what can I do?'"

"It is a challenge, there's no question about it."

Diehl returns to lineup

Quote
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- According to no less reliable source than David Diehl himself, David Diehl will play right guard for the New York Giants on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Diehl missed the first three games of the season while recovering from thumb surgery and did not play in Week 4 in spite being listed as active against the Chiefs. The Giants hope his return will help an offensive line that has struggled significantly in the run game and the passing game all year, and so does he.

Diehl
"I'm not a miracle worker," Diehl said. "Everything's not going to be fixed. But I'm going to bring my leadership and my energy and I'm going to do whatever I can to help my teammates."

Jim Cordle, who started at center in place of the injured David Baas on Sunday, said he's been working at center with the first-team line, and he's likely to start there again Sunday. Diehl would take the place of James Brewer, who likely heads back to the bench after filling in at right guard Sunday for the injured Chris Snee. Diehl was the right tackle when training camp opened, but once he got hurt he ceded that spot to rookie first-round pick Justin Pugh. Diehl has played every position on the line at some point in his Giants career and said right guard won't require an adjustment.

"It's like riding a bike," he said. "I'm excited about the opportunity. Justin and I have been working together since the summer, and it's going great."

Baas remains out indefinitely with a neck injury, and Snee has been missing practice with a hip injury.

Never though I'd be this happy to see David Diehl return to the starting rotation LOL

Pm I got.

I got a real question for you. If the giants lose their next game do you expect Tom Couglin to be fired? As you are a giants fan I'm just wondering what you opinion is. Not trolling or whatever, just a honest question. From what I've seen this season of the giants (1st game and the rest are highlights). Would suck to see a 2 time Super Bowl coach get fired.

Appreciate the PM

Do I expect him to be fired? No. Coughlin is exempt from being fired. Now he may "retire" because he has no other choice but it won't be this season. The thing for me is I don't see Gilbride being fired or let go unless Coughlin is gone as well and that's not going to happen.

He's one of the best coaches in the league but for whatever reason we don't perform up to his standards.

I'm going to post this in the Giants thread if you don't mind so others can chime in.
