During minicamp in June, Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara was asked his goal for the upcoming season.

Always candid with his thoughts, the third-year cornerback said he wanted to join the conversation about the league’s elite cornerbacks. He pointed out how players from his draft class, such as the Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, are already there and he feels he’s just as good.

Amukamara, who was cleared by doctors on Thursday after suffering a concussion against Dallas in Week 1, will get his opportunity Sunday when he faces Peyton Manning and the prolific Broncos' offense at MetLife Stadium.

Denver boasts a receiving corps that compares with any in the league, headlined by ex-Patriot Wes Welker, the dynamic Demaryius Thomas and basketball-player-turned-tight end, Julius Thomas. The Broncos had seven receivers catch at least one ball in their opening-night demolition of Baltimore.

Last season, the Giants finished next-to-last in yards allowed per game (remember who was last?) and have vowed to improve that miserable showing.

Now is that opportunity for the Giants. And Prince.

It's not funny man. It's a disgrace what the NFL has become. It's been this way for a long time though..used to be all 1pm Sunday kickoffs though. Wish it still were like that

Per a league source, Rhodes will work out with the Giants on Tuesday.

Rhodes previously had been drawing no interest after being cut by the Cardinals in March.  Some say he wants too much money; others say he hadn’t had the chance in recent months to reject a minimum-salary offer.  The lack of opportunities has prompted some speculation that Rhodes became radioactive in the wake of the emergence of Internet rumors in March regarding his sexuality.  (Rhodes has denied those rumors, strongly.)

Regardless of the real reasons why Rhodes doesn’t currently have a roster spot, the Giants will take a look at Rhodes on Tuesday.  If they like what they see, the question then becomes whether the Giants will offer him the minimum for his level of experience ($840,000), or something more than that.
