I’m not going to ignore McPhee any longer. The Baltimore defensive lineman may be used in a mainly situational role but is generating pressure at a ridiculous rate. Four games in a row he has earned at least a +2.2 grade. Great find for the Ravens.

Obviously wont get ROY but its nice to see him getting attention. 5th round pick and he could very well end the season with double digit sacks while playing a limited role in the defense.

Why do NFL analysts keep saying the Texans have the 1st seed in the AFC at 9-3. Don't the Ravens own the tiebreaker since they beat us?

Or is it because it's technically a three-team tie at 9-3 with the Ravens, Texans and Patriots. Must be another tiebreaker (three teams or more) that the Texans are currently winning. Not counting the Steelers at 10-3 (won Thursday, I know ) but the Ravens are the division leader based on head-to-head play with them - assuming they end up tied.

So let's say the Ravens, Texans and Patriots all win out and finish 13-3.

Texans get the 1st seed if that happens? Or am I mistaken?

Ravens have the tie breaker. Right now (assuming we all win sunday) its Pats then Ravens then Texans.

I know the Ravens have the tie-breaker if it's two teams tied -- they would own it outright against the Texans, Steelers and Patriots.

I'm thinking if all three finished tied. Conference record would be tied (2 losses each). Next tiebreaker would be common opponent record (minimum 4 games). Ah, maybe that's it. Ravens did lose to the Titans and Jaguars. They also played the Colts and Bengals. I know the Patriots lost to the Steelers.

Could be something to do with the common opponent record. I guess it's a moot point right now. I will follow up on it in a few weeks if the Texans, Ravens and Patriots keep winning. But I do know if all three teams finish 13-3 ... I think Houston is the 1st seed. But like I said, I'm confused on that.

This is actually incorrect.

According to an email from the NFL and Elias, via Ravens PR Manager Patrick Gleason, the top seed under that scenario is “impossible to determine right now.”

The email explained the following:

All three teams would be 13-3…following tiebreakers (use wild card tiebreakers to determine this):

Head to head:  None of the three teams beat the other two or lost to the other two…does not apply
Conf record:  All three teams would be tied in this tiebreaker (10-2).
Common opps:  Not enough common games to apply this (each team needs four)
Strength of victory: cannot possibly be determined right now who would win that tiebreaker
It won’t be until the end of the season that the strength of victories can be calculated because it depends on the final winning percentage of opponents.

Damn, so the Pats don't have 4 common games played like Houston and the Ravens have.

Shit, strength of schedule would hurt us then. LOL. Still got cupcakes left in Panthers and Colts.
