They've treated bortles like a day one rookie. You can see the progression in scheme. He will be the quarterback next year assuming he continues to improve each week. We don't have sprinkles coaching anymore its a new game

He lost his favorite target, the best WR on this team and one of the better WRs in the NFL on the first drive of game 1. That was a huge hit on the passing game.

Been without Hurns for multiple weeks.

Using 2 rookie WRs (one UDFA, the other a 4th rounder who was on IR for over half the season).

Playing behind a makeshift OL for a good portion of the year. 6-7 straight games of using a different starting OL lineup.

A spotty running game for the past few weeks.

Lee leads the league in drops. There's plenty of nice throws being left on the field due to way too many drops.

Bortles isn't perfect and he'll never be, but you don't fluke your way into 4.4k passing yards and 35 TD in a single season.

And for the people who use the dumb excuse that he did only did that because of garbage time, they're nothing but idiots. We broke down that season on the Jags forum awhile back. We went through every game and there were only 2 or 3 games that you could count as some garbage time.

Can he be upgraded? Absolutely. You don't just run off an Average+ QB when you have nothing else behind him though.

What light is there to see? He's the QB of an 8-4 team.

A team that would be likely be 10-2 right now if the Defense touches the Jets RB down, or if Lee catches that 3rd down pass in OT, which would have gave us a 1st down and put us in FG range. Or if Special Teams doesn't give up a kick off return TD and a blocked punt returned for a TD against the Rams.

QBs don't grow on trees. You get rid of one, you have to replace him. Who do you replace him with? Sure as shit not Henne. You want to risk this Defense and team on a possible rookie QB starting day 1? That typically doesn't turn out very well.

Pay Cousins $30mil per year in FA? If they do that, that's fine. He'd definitely be an upgrade, but I don't think he's worth that kind of money. Tying up that kind of $$ also hurts the rest of your team because now you have to let go of key players else where. Ngakoue keeps playing like he is, he's going to be getting a huge contract. We'll have the 5th year option on Ramsey, but eventually he's going to be getting a monster deal as well.

That doesn't even include other players that'll be hitting FA sooner. Robinson and Colvin this off season (already locked up Linder and Telvin). We'll probably franchise tag Robinson, but he's going to likely get a big deal eventually. That's just starting off the fun.

They built this team the right way, through the draft. You can't keep everybody, but they have to try and keep the home grown talent we've built. Paying that kind of $$ to Cousins is going to really limit that.

Looked horrible? He has only thrown 8 interceptions this year.
His completion rating is just under 60% this year and 75% of that is receivers failing to catch the ball.

He has played smart and been able to make something out of nothing in several games.
Hell, his last two games have been pretty damned good and its because Cole and Westbrook started catching the ball.

Hes not an elite QB i admit but he isnt nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
