Former New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs: I Want to Be Back with Big Blue

Quote
On Monday, it was reported that the New York Giants will have former running back Brandon Jacobs in on Tuesday for a workout with the team following the Giants 36-31 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

The need for running back help became a glaring one after David Wilson's two fumbles and Da'Rel Scott's tipped ball that lead to the game-winning interception for the Cowboys, plus with Andre Brown on the shelf recovering from a leg injury and out until at least Week 10.

Since Brown went down with the leg injury almost two weeks ago, a lot of fans have been publicly supporting for Jacobs to get re-signed and brought back to the Giants, where he played seven years and won two Super Bowls with the team. Last year he was with the San Francisco 49ers, but hardly played due to injuries and also not getting along with head coach Jim Harbaugh.

On Monday, Jacobs publicly stated what he has said before in the past about making a return to the Giants and hopes he'll be able to come back to the team that he knew as home for seven years.

"I would like to take this time to thank all the fans who have been behind me all this time. I'll go out tomorrow and give it all I've got. I want to be back with Big Blue. I can't let this opportunity pass me by,"  he tweeted.

Just shortly after the Brown injury occurred, the rumors of Jacobs started swirling, but the Giants hadn't reached out or shown any interest in their former running back as a replacement. Plus, given the public bad blood going on with Jacobs and the Giants front office about how he was being used in the offense, and for the Giants to call Jacobs in for a workout says a lot on how much they might actually need him back on the team.

Along with Jacobs, the Giants will also bring in Willis McGahee and Joe McKnight in on Tuesday for workouts and it would not be shocking to see both Jacobs and McGahee signed before the Giants Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos; which will be the third ever "Manning Bowl" game. Although, if the Giants were to sign one or both of the running backs, the team will be forced to make moves to get to the 53-man limit on the roster, which could lead to some players being released as a result.

"The point is that the situation around Manning seems to have deteriorated since he capped that magical, comeback-pocked 2011 season with his second Super Bowl MVP award 19 months ago. The Giants have not made their defense better since that night. They have not made their offensive line better since that night. The run game? Pff."..."They've grown too thin on both lines to be able to control the way games go, and as a result they continually find themselves in this exact situation -- asking Manning to go lead the game-winning drive."

He nailed it.

O-line has to get it's act together and we have to figure out the run game.

Once Wilson gets his chance I have no doubt he'll be fine, so I'm more worried about the O-line.

Saw Prince after the game last night and he seemed in good spirits all things considered. Didn't get the sense it would be a long-term issue
