didnt watch most of the game but kaepernick looks SOOO much better with his accuracy

Kaep looked awesome today. Crazy thing is I think he could of done even better. Kaep had a chance to hit a couple guys deep but missed em. What I really loved was his composure in the pocket he was looking to throw first never really wanted to run. I'm excited about this season non the less. Can't imagine what it would be like with Crabtree and anquan boldin. *drool*

Referee Bill Leavy admitted after Sunday’s Packers-49ers game that his team botched a call after Green Bay’s Clay Matthews and San Francisco’s Joe Staley both drew personal fouls, and that the officials’ mistake benefitted the 49ers.

But that’s not quite right.

The NFL now says it was the Packers, not the 49ers, who benefitted from the officials’ mistake on the play, because Staley shouldn’t have been flagged in the first place. The league office reviewed the play and determined that while Matthews was rightly called for a late hit on 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the official who threw the flag on Staley for getting in Matthews’ face after running over to protect Kaepernick should not have done so.

In other words, if the entire play had been properly called, it would have been first-and-goal for the 49ers at the 3-yard line on the next play. Instead, the officials made it tougher for the 49ers by making them re-play third down after the offsetting penalties.

Some may say it’s a moot point because the 49ers scored a touchdown on that third-down play anyway. But either way, the league has confirmed that this play was botched, in more ways than one. And because the 49ers scored a touchdown, the two wrongs equaled a right for San Francisco.

interesting

interesting

they were saying how the refs made a bad call, and that if they had made this call last season, it would have been on the replacement refs and the whole world woulda made an even bigger deal about it.

long story short, all refs make mistakes

Only one I saw was the pass deep right to Williams which he was hit during the throw.

Great game by Kaep, considering GB stopped the run well.

I think the secondary needs to tighten up but that's about it.

On Sunday, a week’s worth of words from Packers linebacker Clay Matthews became action, when Matthews hit 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick well out of bounds after a play.

The move drew a flag and launched a fracas, which included 49ers tackle Joe Staley coming to Kaepernick’s defense and drawing a penalty that the league later admitted was a mistake.

After the incident, Staley and Kaepernick had a discussion.  The audio will be played tonight, on the season debut of NBCSN’s NFL Turning Point.

Staley tells Kaepernick, “We’re setting a precedent.”

“I know what you’re saying,” Kaepernick says.

“No one is [expletive] hitting you late.”

Kaepernick again replies, “I know what you’re saying.”

It’s a hockey-style mentality that at times is necessary in hockey, and also necessary in football.  In hockey, when a cement-headed goon takes a shot at a star player, another cement-headed goon settles the score.  In football, a certain amount of that needs to be tolerated.

Or, at a minimum, to be properly officiated.

No matter how robotic the league wants players to be, normal human emotions get involved.  When it’s time to throw flags based on the display of normal human emotions, those flags need to be handed out evenly and fairly.

my boy staley. one of the best in the game.
