The New England Patriots and Rob Gronkowski have agreed to restructure the star tight end's contract for the 2017 season, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter, citing Gronkowski's agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Under the terms of the restructure, Gronkowski can become the league's highest-paid tight end if he hits certain performance or playing-time benchmarks. He was slated to earn $5.75 million.

Schefter outlined how Gronkowski's deal is structured for 2017:

‪1st tier, which gets him to $10.75M either 90 percent play time or 80 catches or 1,200 receiving yards or All Pro - and he's made all pro four times.‬

‪2nd tier to $8.75M: he has to get 80 percent play time or 70 catches or 1,000 receiving yards or 12 TDs.‬

‪3rd tier takes him to $6.75M is 70 percent play time, 60 receptions, 800 receiving yards or 10 TDs.‬

I fucking love that they're doing this. It seems perfect, a total win for everyone. I would love nothing more than for Gronk to be with us for an entire season. I'd like to see what kind of numbers he's capable of posting with a full 16 games, and then Cooks, Edelman, Amendola and Hogan making it impossible to double him all the time. Not that he can't break double coverage anyway.

I'm stupidly excited for this season, and I'm feeling damn good about Brady getting that 6th ring and creating a record that may never be broken for a QB. So much hype.

Is any outcome but a perfect season acceptable for this team?

I believe that Brady, BB, and the majority of the team, if not the entire team, will be disappointed with anything less than 19-0. Anything less than a SB appearance and I'll be disappointed. Obviously I'd still like to win that game and I'd be devastated by a loss, but Brady making his 8th Superbowl appearance would be something I could live with in the event we choked when it mattered. I'll probably split though if the Manning with downs beats us again. We'll just have to see how we actually look once the regular season starts. We've been the most consistent team in football for over 15 years now, but regardless of our track record, we could find ourselves having a season where the team just click for a million different reasons. I don't see it happening, but it's within the realm of possibility. Brady is a natural leader and just by watching his teammates while he's speaking, you can see the respect in their eyes. We're stacked as shit on both sides of the ball, we've done nothing but bolster a SB winning team and as long as we've got the mad genius calling the shots, I think we're in for another NE rape fest this year.

Edit - Brady has made the AFC Championship 11 times out of his 16 years in NE, he's won 7 of those and moved to the SB, where he's won 5 of those. That is all just fucking retarded lol. 70% of Brady's 16 seasons he's been in the AFC Championship game, that has got to be the most ridiculous shit any team has ever done.

With arguably one of our most stacked rosters in Brady's career, anything less than a SB trip is going to be a huge letdown.

Patriots sign ex Browns and ex Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins, had 63 catches for 824 yards in 2014.

Roster now at 90 players

I mean ideally every season is a perfect season. That's what teams are trying to do is not lose any games. That doesn't happen though.

I'm thrilled for this season and I'm looking forward to how well this team performs, Because this is probsbly the best roster I've witnessed in my lifetime. Maybe I got the goggles on, but every element that we lost we either replaced or revamped. The defense got bolstered, the offense got bolstered, and special teams brought in players too.

Like, It's just beautiful to me that right when I think I have the Pats figured out they always impress me.

In BB we trust

Go Pats

That's what I mean flopps
With the tools @ BBs disposal, there can be no acceptable outcome but absolute victory
Complete and utter destruction of every team they encounter

If I were a pats fan I would be hyped beyond belief
