While I agree, I'm going to ignore your point to point out the fact that I have backup now.  B)

Honestly, I was ready to give you guys Barr or Clowney this week but they're gone by the time you guys pick.  I was torn so I went QB again. I think with this draft you get quality talent (I know that's up for debate with Carr, just let it be for now lol) at every pick in every round and fill needs.

To refresh your memory, Gabbert came up outta no where and was being considered a top draft pick at the end of the season/combine as well... We all know how that turned out. It's a QB league so people will always be looking to over rank QBs. I worry about QBs who jump up the charts at the end of the year.

If Barr is gone, we'll take Khalil Mack and wont look back. Either will fit our LEO position perfect.

Jaguars may still end up as high as the 3rd overall pick. I could see them ending up with Anthony Barr. Possibly Teddy Bridgewater, as he could still be there at three. Still not a 100 % certainty the Texans would take him number one overall. Especially without knowing who the new head coach is going to be. And if the Falcons or Rams pick ahead of the Jaguars, well, both teams already have franchise quarterbacks unless everybody has given up on Sam Bradford because of his injuries? The Vikings are the only team I'd worry about selecting a quarterback if I were a Jaguars fan wanting Bridgewater.

Gabbert was never productive though and that system is notorious for having QBs put up huge numbers.

I could of added in Locker and Ponder into the mix also for that year. After Luck stayed in school, it was a mad scramble to find the next best QB. Kind of similar to this year. Bridgewater's hype train has died down some so people are now doing the mad dash to find the next best.

Ponder never showed any exceptional skills and Locker always had accuracy issues. People fell in love with his athleticism and arm. I haven't scouted anyone save for a few prospects this year so I have no idea about any of these QB prospects except Bridgewater. Who IMO has the tools to be a top 5 QB in the league if he fulfills his potential.

Bridgewater is the only QB I'd take in the top of the 1st round. There's way too many top Defensive prospects up there to reach and over draft a QB not named Bridgewater in the top 10.

I haven't watched every game cutup of Carr, but I've seen a couple and he seems to get rattled under pressure. Blitz/Hit him a few times and he starts rushing his throws and gets some happy feet. Reminds me a whole lot of Gabbert honestly. Carr has put up pretty good numbers, but plays terrible competition.

I'd rather have somebody like A.J. McCarron in round 2, or even better round 3 (or even later would just be that much better). Rather then possibly over drafting someone like Carr and pass on a Barr or Mack. McCarron may have the "game manager" label, but he's a Senior. Has won over 36 games in 3 years, while playing in the best Conference in the country.

McCarron IMO is overrated best team in the country and he ALWAYS has a clean pocket. That won't happen in the NFL and his arm talent is crap. I see him as a career back up and a spot starter. I do agree that the defensive talent this year is off the charts and there are a few offensive players that could be top 10 at their position in the future. I love the corners this year and the linebackers.

Murray would be the one I'd most want outta that conference, but depending how fast he heals, I have no clue who our starter would be unless we drafted 2 QBs this year.

That's another reason why I don't want us to reach on a QB in the 1st round. We need a LEO, DE, CB, LB and quite possibly WR (since we can't count on Blackmon ever playing again). All of which can be easily found towards the top of this draft. Whereas I think Caldwell will be able to find a good QB out of the 1st round.

When you have that many holes, rebuilding is not a one draft thing. It's a long-term commitment, 3-5 years if you do it right. And that means you don't go scrambling for a quick fix quarterback, you take what the draft gives you 'cuz you need everything. This year, the draft gives you defense. Take defense, accept another losing year, and wait for a good QB draft. It's not the popular choice, but it's the right choice.
