Hey guys...
Went to the game yesterday. Was pretty depressing til the end. Stadium lit up after that pick though.
Here is what I took from the game. Sometimes it is hard from the field though... let me know what you guys saw on TV.
1. A lot of bad penalties called by the refs. Seemed very Anti-lions.
2. A lot of bad penalties by the lions. Just stupid penalties like the NZI while the saints were driving.
3. Stafford still doesn't look good. Stares down his receivers, isn't able to read the field.
4. Ross was open a lot, hardly targeted.
5. Took us forever to open up our offense. A lot of dink and dunk passing. When we need it at the end, Tate makes big plays down the field. Why aren't we doing this earlier?
6. Joique Bell dropped 2 passes in the open field. Both seemed to be his fault. Disappointing.
7. Defense came up big again. Well done.
Defense for sure came up big. They really only gave up one TD. The other TD I blame on the Stafford interception. One Stafford interception really wasn't his fault. If anything you could argue Stafford is throwing too hard(but this is professional--can you throw too hard?)
The Joique drops I felt weren't thrown in the best place for him to catch them(could be his route running who knows). Also, I see a lot of other running backs drop passes in the flat(maybe it's intentional because they realize there's no where to run and likely to result in a loss) or maybe it's simply difficult to catch passes in the flat coming out of the back field.
I never felt the refs were being anti lions--granted I wasn't surrounded by 1000's of Lions fans while watching the game
Not to many stupid penalties--but the one you references was a stupid penalty when it really hurt...
I'm honestly a huge fan of the dink and dunk passing--I think it's necessary to establish before trying to stretch the field. I heard a lot of gripe about the play calling from facebook friends. I honestly liked the play calling and to me it just seemed like the team failed to execute offensively...
That being said--I hope we carry confidence from this week into the Falcons game and I'm pumped I'll be able to watch it almost first thing in the morning--I hate waiting 6 hours to watch football!
