My next door neighbor's race cars. They test that shit out on the road and it just roars for what seem like miles. The last few years they have had this friend who stops by in a full decked out semi that is sponsored by Jack Links and they roll out a sprint car (I think? Big ass spoiler tiny ass car) annoying when I'm trying to relax but it's pretty cool to see sometimes.

I don't think they'd be driving Sprint cars for miles..

I drive my 4 cylinders around town to break them in after a rebuild (cops are cool as long as I keep it on the main drag, I claim to be ”advertising”)

They're unregistered and nowhere near roadworthy, but w.e, more fun than a normal car

I'd never take one of my real cars out lol, tires cost way too much to be just driving around (comes out to like 600/week, without wasting rubber)

No emissions law in my state, no inspections, only noise ordinance violations and then you just change it out have cops check it and then put your loud shit back on. I run ghost cut straight pipes with no baffles on my Harley and usually get a excessive noise ticket once a year. 6 bolts to swap pipes back to factory and get ticket dropped.

Do any states have emission laws anymore? I remember having to sit in the car when I was a kid when we went and got them checked. Seemed like a pain in the ass.

I miss when cars sounded like monsters. I walked by a brand new challenger a while back and I didn't even know it was on until it drove away.

I believe most states do. I also prefer the sound of a nice motor with a cam.

They don't drive them for miles. I live on a cul-de-sac and they just drive them around the circle for a couple seconds. Rev the engine real loud and then go back to working on them. The sound seems to travel for miles is what I meant.

I thought it was an old car thing back then. Never had to deal with it in my grown up life

Ah, yeah, I live quite a ways from anyone, but anytime I fire up the Mopar my neighbor is on the phone asking if I need help lol

They're probably not even moving, unless they have enough room to rip around at full throttle, or have a dyno(can sound like the car is traveling)

I'll try and snap a few pictures come summertime. They have a pretty legit setup in their garage but I don't know if they have a dyno in there.

I think they are pretty legit. We have a small dirt track in town and they don't touch that thing. They travel most of the year to races in other states. But I know almost nothing about racing so I could be way off on them being legit lol

I knew you weren't into it by the fact you weren't sure if it was a Sprint car lol

And yeah, if it is a Sprint car, not many tracks in the area(mi, wi, mn) run them regularly, if they do it's a 600cc bike/snowmobile engine setup
