no shame in being emotional, i worked my first job for about a year and a half and got really close with my team

tears were shed when i left on all sides

I told her i appreciated the opportunities that were provided to me and apologized for such short notice (I start my new job weds so tomorrow will be my last day). I started aug 16th so it was almost 8 months.

she knows you're trying to better your situation so i'm sure she's happy for you

my first boss was like a big sister to me. i was living like 5 hours from family and wanted to be closer to home (using all your vacation to visit family blows asshole) so she knew i was looking to move back to Atlanta (i was in Raleigh at the time).

i didn't even know what to say when i got my offer here. i literally walked into her office, sat down, she asked what was going on, i started swelling a little and she lost her shit lol. she knew immediately that i was leaving.

Yeah she knew i had an interview and as soon as i walked in she looked at me and smiled like she knew what i was about to say. Its a great opportunity to further my career and my current/now old job was very stagnant as far as progression and advancement. On my way to my stuart status B)

gucci mayne. that's how you make money once you start working, you gotta go company to company.

you can't make a habit of it though forever or people start to catch on, but early in your career you can jump your salary quickly by spending 2-5 years and then going somewhere new

Yeah youre actually the third person to mention that to me. One said no more than once a year and an older colleague said 3 to 4 years. I got my first negotiation experience too, successfully countered their offer to get a little more out of em. Add that to my first professional interview (i got my current job from a phone interview) and im feeling better than ever about myself as a GIS professional. This is a big stepping stone to the top at rhe very least and a considerable raise
