Eagles signed Miami's Nolan Carroll 2 years 5.2m.
Good signing by the eagles imo.
He's still in development, crazy fast and can quickly read the QB's eye and change his route on receivers.

back to the first page for the eagles.

overall, i like what the team has done in free agency so far. i think we still need more bodies at safety, linebacker and d line from free agency, but i'm thinking guys to come in for cheap and try to win a starting job, rather then a star. not that there's any stars left unsigned now anyways.

ESPN's James Walker, who covers the Dolphins, wrote up this piece about what the Eagles can expect from Carroll and what he brings to the table.

Not often you see a good report about a guy leaving their team, but it sounds like Carroll is a great addition for the kind of culture Chip Kelly is trying to build.

Quote
The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with free-agent cornerback Nolan Carroll on Thursday, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

I covered Carroll during his tenure with the Miami Dolphins. Here is my scouting report on what he brings to the Eagles:

Carroll, 27, has always been a bit of an enigma. He has good size and runs well. However, he was never able to completely put it all together at cornerback during his four seasons in Miami. Carroll had the best year of his career statistically as a part-time starter for the Dolphins in 2013. But flashes of good plays were sometimes followed by bad plays. Opposing quarterbacks picked on Carroll while opposite Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes -- and the quarterbacks won many of those battles. That was a primary reason the Dolphins were willing to let him walk.

In 2013 Carroll became more of a playmaker, which is good news for the Eagles. He set career highs in interceptions (three), pass defensed (12) and sacks (two) last season. Carroll’s biggest weakness is his inconsistency. But if the Eagles can fix that aspect of his game, he could be productive.

Carroll has good character and will fit in well in Philadelphia’s locker room. He’s a hard worker who doesn’t complain. He’s willing to fill whatever role is asked of him. Miami’s coaching staff used Carroll outside as a cornerback, occasionally as a nickel, when needed, and he also was a backup kickoff returner. Carroll was a fifth-round pick in 2010 and lasted four seasons in Miami because he was a team-first player.

honestly, anyone is better then roc carmichael as our #3 outside cb. his one snap in the saints playoff game is burned into my memory. i don't remember if it was williams or fletcher that went down, but carmichael had to come in for one play late in the game. it's 3rd and long, the announcers are saying to look out for brees to pick on carmichael, and to no one's surprise he completes a long pass to whoever carmichael should have been covering for a first down.

i sort of understand them wanting boykin to focus on playing in the slot during the season, but i don't see any reason why they wouldn't have him competing for one of the starting outside spots this summer.

@AdamSchefter

Eagles already signed RB Darren Sproles to a two-year contract extension, tying him to Philadelphia for three seasons, per league source.
