T.J. Yates throws some passes during practice on Thursday.

LOL, look at Gary Kubiak watching over him like a hawk. I hope he can keep the mistakes to a minimum against the Falcons. It's bad enough Atlanta is coming into Reliant Stadium as a 3-point favorite. It's almost a slap in the face to an 8-3 Texans team playing at home. So many playmakers on this team and I think everybody is automatically focusing on Yates like he has to win or lose the game by himself. In reality, if he can not the turn the ball over I think Houston has a chance to win.

By the way, Donovan McNabb is not coming to Houston? LOL

ESPN is reporting Minnesota quarterback Donovan McNabb will be waived today. For all the Texans fans wondering if they’ll claim him, the answer is no.

They’re set at quarterback, at least for now. They don’t have enough money available under the cap to claim McNabb, who’d cost $1.5 million. They like the threesome they have now.

If McNabb is on the street, and coach Gary Kubiak isn’t happy with one of his backups a couple of weeks from now, who knows, but I don’t see the Texans having any interest in McNabb.

It’s T.J. Yates or bust. Kubiak has made it clear that Yates is the starting quarterback.

It depends what they do with the money. Which position would you try and upgrade? Texans are barely under the salary cap right now -- by about $200,000. But if you take Mario Williams' salary off the books that would help clear a nice chunk of cap space. Even if Houston wanted to re-sign Mario Williams they would have to re-adjust other contracts and it would have to be a long-term deal that is backloaded, similar to what DeMarcus Ware got with the Cowboys.

Here’s a look at the Top 50 NFL free agents for 2012. This list was constructed based on players value as it relates to factors like: Age, Position and Overall Ability. Players ages are set to show their age at the start of the 2012 season.

http://nfltraderumors.co/2012-nfl-free-agents/

What about an explosive number two wide receiver? Imagine DeSean Jackson on the other side of Andre Johnson? Or is that too much of a luxury and not a need. He'd be more explosive than Kevin Walter or Jacoby Jones. The offense would be even better than the Saints or Packers if they added another vertical threat with great speed.

LOL, the best free agent cornerback is Cortland Finnegan but that would never work. Andre Johnson would beat him up the first day of mini camp.

Maybe Brent Grimes or Tracy Porter? What about Rashean Mathis... Is he that injury prone and totally washed up?

I talked to Chris Meyers on Tuesday and he said he was very comfortable with tj and that he was worried at first but tj has shown a lot of maturity and has the ability to lead the texans plus he is more athletic than both of the matts

Yates just has to settle down and play to his strengths. He's talented enough to get the job done. A full week of practice was huge.

LOL, he looked energetic and anxious against the Jaguars. He looks like he could take off and run a lot if he wanted to. With his speed he'd pick up a good amount of rushing yards. He shouldn't hesitate to run when it's there. That's a big plus he has over Schaub and Leinart, who are both slow.

2:09 to to 2:39. Get the ball to Andre Johnson. Four defenders on him, who cares!!! Just get it to him and he'll catch it.

I'm excited to see Yates make his first NFL start on Sunday. I think he'll look even better than he did against the Jaguars.
