God that show went so downhill the last few seasons capped of by a terrible finale

yup was hella weak last few seasons

the doomsday concept was cool

the last season just annoyed the hell out of me

I still struggle with the finale. Part of me understands it and is OK with that but part of me is fucking furious that's how they ended it. The smirk always made me think he was now just on his own with his dark passenger feeding the need without having the worry about Harrison. Everyone always says that its his punishment but I looked at it as him finally giving in to the darkness.

idk. the logical progression just wasn't there as far as the rest of the storyline for me. not even counting how clean-cut and anti-manual labor Dexter went all Paul Bunyan on us. Take that out of consideration.

Deb dies off-camera... after countless characters have died in the most grotesque methods, the 2nd protagonist is killed off screen. His love at the time barely had any time to develop a relationship with Dex before he decided that she could be a single parent for his son. idk. His father finally allowing Dex to operate on his own AND letting the final serial killer go so Deb could turn him in to get back in the good graces of the force led myself to believe he was completely over his Dark Passenger.

meh. it is what it is. good series and worth sticking it out until the end imo. not like it was the first time a finale disappointed its fans. How I Met Your Mother, Breaking Bad, etc.

I'd agree fully with all of that if it wasn't for at the very end, closing those eyes and opening them back right into the camera with that look from early on. Not necessarily joy but neither pain or sorrow just emptiness. No mask to cover himself just him and his passenger. This is what I try to tell myself to like the ending more anyway lol.

But I agree it was a good series that I really enjoyed. Binge watched season 1-4 in like a week on DVD from Blockbuster to catch up after Kold use to wear that Dexter sig and made me interested in the show. 1-4 were great, 5 and 6 were OK, had to reset after the ending of 4 so I understood a slow 5 and then 7 was cool and 8 was eh.

I stopped for a good 2 months after Rita died </3 fuck you, Lithgow
