It amazes me every year how good the Eagles are at keeping things a secret. They just continue to keep things to themselves, I mean realistically there was nobody that saw Jenkins on their radar.
This basically blindsided everyone, nobody was even thinking about Jenkins on the radar.
It's similar to what they've done in the past. Remember when they signed Nnamdi, that shit came out of nowhere nobody saw that coming until the last second and they swooped in and signed him. Yeah, it backfired but still...he was the prized free agent at the time.
Wouldn't put it past the Eagles to grab Revis, although unlikely.
I really like what they're doing though, I think the Jenkins signing is a very sound fundamental signing without breaking the bank and putting way too much into one player. He's a definite upgrade, and while he doesn't carry the huge name like a Byrd, the Eagles have apparently had their eye on him for a while and feel like he's a great fit for what this defense wants to do. He was a defensive captain last season for the Saints defense (which ranked #2 in pass defense) plus he's only 26.
This keeps the money situation flexible, and can still do big things in the draft.
