The Ravens are starting to believe that this year’s defense could be a special group. We’re starting to believe it too.
Baltimore outslugged Houston 29-14 on Sunday, scoring the final 16 points of the game including 13 in the fourth quarter. The Texans offense only scored seven points on their own, as a turnover set up one of their touchdowns.
Baltimore’s ability to close reminded us of their comeback win over Houston last year. This year’s Ravens defense, however, is a lot better than last year’s crew.
Ray Lewis is playing well with Terrence Cody and Haloti Ngata dominating up front. Lewis finished with 12 tackles and a sack.
Baltimore battered Matt Schaub, holding him to 5.9 yards-per-attempt. They held Arian Foster to only 49 yards. The Ravens lost the turnover battle 2-0, but just wouldn’t give up big plays to an Andre Johnson-less Texans offense.
In a season defined by ridiculous offensive numbers, the Ravens look like the best team in the AFC because they have only difference-making defense
