If the Chiefs beat the Chargers during that early game I could see the Texans pulling 80 % of their starting players, including Deshaun Watson because of the back pain he's been dealing with for the past few weeks. But if the Chiefs lose we may see the Texans only rest 10-20 % of their starters. Deshaun would likely play if the 3rd seed is still up for grabs.

But either way the Texans will hopefully play hard and defeat the Titans. If somehow it's A.J. McCarron at quarterback it's going to be a wild game. I haven't seen that guy play in ages. He's been a pretty boy with amazing hair and a nice smile on the sidelines all year long. If nothing else he's had all year long to grasp Bill O'Brien's offensive system.

It would be cool to see the Houston Texans burst a bubble in the Tennessee Titans playoff hopes.

We'll know soon. Almost 12 hours away until the Chargers at Chiefs game kicks off! Have some pride, Chargers.

A.J. McCarron is expected to start at quarterback for the Texans today.
Deshaun Watson will be his backup. The Texans only carry two quarterbacks.

The Texans are prepared to rest almost every impact starter today. Yikes!
I mean A.J. McCarron last started an NFL game back in 2015 with the Bengals.

I truly apologize to fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm sorry. Hopefully the Texans will still find a way to win today!

I'm upset right now because you play to win the game! A winning mentality for the playoffs would be nice.

Yeah it sucks but Houston has nothing to gain from this game (unless chargers win), fingers crossed hoping McCarron can pull some strings.

When you can’t beat the Jets you probably shouldn’t be in playoffs anyway haha.

There's always a chance if the Chargers beat the Chiefs the Texans will change their strategy and play most of their starters by the 3:25 PM kick off time. DeAndre Hopkins and Laremy Tunsil will probably play if the 3 seed is on the line. Deshaun Watson does have an aching back but I can't imagine he wouldn't play in that scenario. He's still available to play as the backup quarterback. A.J. McCarron could very easily go down with an injury early in the game. He's going to be rusty.

The big difference from the 3 seed to the 4 seed. Avoiding a stingy Bills team in the wild-card game and not having to travel to Baltimore for the divisional round. The Texans were spanked 41-7 at Baltimore earlier this season. But that game was scoreless going into the 2nd quarter. Everything just fell apart like a nightmare. We didn't have J.J. Watt and I just feel like if we play the Ravens again on the road it would be a lot tighter of a game.

It's not like playing the Titans, Steelers or Raiders in the wild-card game and then traveling to Foxborough is any easier.

J.J. Watt (out nearly 3 months) is going to return and play in the AFC wild-card game next Saturday. If it's the Bills then so be it!

The Texans defeated the Chiefs (at KC) and Patriots. If only we hadn't fooled around in that heartbreaking loss at New Orleans back in Week 1. And the inexcusable loss against the Broncos. Could've easily locked down that wide-open 2nd seed in the AFC. But that's so typical for the Houston Texans. 17 years of this franchise and they've never been able to secure a top 2 seed and first-round bye in the playoffs.

Looks like the 4th seed it is. The Texans vs. Bills in the AFC wild-card game. I still feel good.
We can still avoid going to Baltimore in the divisional round if the 6th seed can upset the Patriots.

It feels so strange that the Patriots are hosting an AFC wild-card game just like the Texans are.

Do your thing Pittsburgh Steelers. Don't lose. A.J. McCarron came to play today!
Also the Texans running game is looking solid vs. the Titans defense early on.

We can't cover A. J. Brown. All tied up at 7-7. This guy has killed us in both games this year.
Worst third-down coverage I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of bad football with this team.
If the Titans make the playoffs I could see them upsetting the Patriots on the road.

So looks like we have the Saturday game at 3:35 PM on two channels.

NFL Wild Card Weekend Schedule (all Times CT):

Saturday, January 4
3:35 PM: Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans - ABC/ESPN
7:15 PM: Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots - CBS

Sunday, January 5
12:05 PM: Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints - FOX
3:40 PM: Seattle Seahawks at Philadelphia Eagles - NBC

J.J. Watt is about dominate the Bills in his return. Will Fuller is leaning towards playing.
No excuses. We've got everybody back. Deshaun Watson has to shine against Buffalo.

I notice the Houston Texans are -3 and slightly favored on the early spread.
I've been hearing how great the Bills are I thought they'd be -3.5 or so.
J.J. Watt is a full go this week in practice. His return is a huge boost of confidence!
