Both are common mid options. Basil is my go to because most places have it. Four Roses is along the same lines. It's nice and affordable so I think it's a good gift. Really nice bourbon is harder to justify drinking because you want to ration and preserve it.

/e pro tip. People think looks matter with bourbon and basil has the best presentation for the dollar.

LOL, funny you mention that, i almost bought it literally for the looks/packaging, i believe it was $36 the four roses was a few dollars cheaper. Bulleit was really cheap so I stayed away, not sure if it's bad or good or mediocre.

Bought GTA V on Steam from the winter sale for $24, saved $40.
