Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey confirmed at the Combine that DE Aaron Kampman (knee surgeries) still hasn't passed his physical.
In late December, Kampman underwent his third known knee surgery since December of 2009 and there is a strong belief in Jacksonville that his days are numbered with the Jags. Kampman, 32, is owed a $4.975 million salary in 2012.

He has to take a huge pay cut, or he'll be let go.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Quietly, the Jaguars are taking steps toward re-signing their pending free agents while at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to sources.

The Jaguars have begun negotiations for defensive end Jeremy Mincey and will meet again this week with his agent.

Jacksonville also has meetings planned with both safety Dwight Lowery's agent and cornerback Rashean Mathis's agent this week.

As I reported earlier today, contract talks are ongoing with kicker Josh Scobee, although the sides are still far apart on the numbers. There is plenty of time to work out a deal as free agency doesn't open until 4 p.m. on March 13, but if the Jaguars were to franchise Scobee, they would have to do it by March 5.

Today in Indianapolis, Mike Mularkey addressed the media at the NFL Combine and confirmed what many already believed: Jaguars defensive tackle Tyson Alualu played the 2011 NFL season with a knee injury. Mularkey confirmed to the media that Alualu had knee surgery to repair the injury, although he didn't specify what the exact injury in the knee was.

The 2010 first round draft pick had a disappointing season in 2011, but the common belief during the season was that he was playing through a knee injury that was costing him his explosion off the line which is absolutely vital as a pass rushing defensive tackle.

Alualu had a strong start to his rookie season in 2010 before tailing off in the latter half of the year, but according to Pete Prisco he played that entire season with a torn PCL that he suffered during his first try at the Oklahoma drills in training camp.

The Jaguars sat Alualu for most Wednesday practices in 2011 due to his injury and it's very possible that we have yet to see a fully healthy Alualu on the field.

Man o man, please get healthy. a 100% Alualu would be

Kuharksy of ESPN thinks Seattle and Jacksonville could be major players for Mario Williams if he's available in free agency.

Who played the most on defense in the AFC South in 2011?

Here’s a rundown, with percentage of defensive snaps played:

DE – Jeremy Mincey, Jaguars, 93.5

DE – J.J. Watt, Texans, 77.37

DT – Tyson Alualu, Jaguars, 83.74

DT – Jurrell Casey, Titans, 58.24

MLB – Paul Posluszny, Jaguars, 95.57

ILB – Brian Cushing, Texans, 93.32

OLB – Connor Barwin, Texans, 94.92

OLB – Pat Angerer, Colts, 93.11

FS – Michael Griffin, Titans, 99.91

SS – Dawan Landry, Jaguars, 99.61

CB – Cortland Finnegan, Titans, 100

CB – Johnathan Joseph, Texans, 89.13

Some notes:

Posluszny resents that he was labeled as injury prone as he left Buffalo as a free agent. He did get hurt, but the shoulder problem that needed surgery didn’t occur until the Jaguars’ finale.

Griffin missed one snap of the 1,123 defensive snaps the Titans played. Like Finnegan, the lone defender in the division not to miss a single play, he’s heading for unrestricted free agency.

Landry missed just four of 1,015 snaps for Jacksonville. Houston’s Glover Quin was close at 98.7 percent.

Mincey is a great effort player, who is heading for free agency. He could probably benefit from at least a little bit less playing time, with more energy to offer on pass-rush snaps.

Alualu played the fourth-highest percentage of snaps for a defensive tackle for anyone in the league. That’s a lot considering he was working with a bum right knee.

Much respect for Alualus ability to play through pain. Man I hope his knee heals up ok
