Dtv uses rate hikes and other dishonest stuff (double-billed my parents for over a year before they noticed, no refund) to get every penny. Plus their tv box was a piece of shit, yet if I wanted it replaced I had to pay for it, even though it has to be leased (so it's technically theirs). They have a wide array of channels, but they're so dishonest.
All television providers are fucking awful, at least all of the ones I've dealt with. I've had the most experience with Comcast + DTV, and DTV was far worse, and I fucking loathe Comcast. The constant rate adjustments are insanely annoying, their customer service is the worst I've encountered, and the box thing was always fucking irritating. Not that buying the thing would do you any good, but it's absurd that they just charge you anywhere from $14 - $50 a month to use their fucking equipment. It should be a 6 month thing, not a permanent thing, or it shouldn't be a fucking thing at all. As long as the equipment is returned in working order, there shouldn't be a charge for it, and they absolutely don't fucking need to charge for it, they're just pieces of shit. Sunday Ticket was amazing, but I'm fine going to the bar or using Reddit. I was sad when I got rid of it, but I was done paying $200/month for TV, I don't fucking need it, especially when most of the shit on their is terrible anyways. Premium channels are where it's at, and you can get all of those through Amazon, Hulu, or just from them directly with things like HBO go. You could have HBO+, Netflix, Amazon, all the premium channels, and a subscription to a sports package to watch EVERYTHING 100% legitimately without setting up anything, and it'd still be cheaper than cable, but there are still better ways to get more for less.
I just got tired of dealing with them. I got tired of calling them whenever they hiked up my bill without a reason, or whenever they tacked on extra bullshit charges, or whenever service was fucked up, which did happen on occasions in Albuquerque. Just too much of a pain in the ass.
