As if the game wasn't tough enough being a road game it also seems that history is against us. The Houston Texans are 6-14 on primetime games (3-3 on Monday Night Football) since their expansion season in 2002. While the Pittsburgh Steelers own Monday Night Football's best record of all-time. The Steelers are 24-5 on Monday Night Football. That just goes along with their NFL best six Super Bowl wins and eight AFC Championship games played.

Pittsburgh is also an undefeated 7-0 on Monday Night Football at Heinz Field since the stadium opened back in 2001. But that's just meaningless stats for the sports junkies. All I know is these are two hungry to win football teams. The winner will improve to 4-3 and still have a decent chance to make the playoffs.

Anyways, I've discussed this game forever it seems like. On forum blogs, sports-talk radio or on TexansTalk.
Not much more to say. I'm ready for this game to kick off on Monday Night. Two more days of waiting.
The off days would have gone by a lot easier if the Texans didn't lose two heartbreakers in a row. #Resiliency

The No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL draft will have final say in when he returns to action. Or at least a voice in the decision.

Jadeveon Clowney practiced Friday and will go through the Saturday and Sunday walkthroughs, marking the first time the Texans rookie linebacker worked out with his team since tearing his right meniscus cartilage during the first half of a Week 1 game against Washington.

Clowney said he is day-to-day and unsure whether he will play Monday at Pittsburgh. There are football activities with which he struggles, such as changing direction. But the former South Carolina star wants to play versus the Steelers and is expected to be a game-time decision.

"Coach (Bill O'Brien) has got my best interest, I believe," Clowney said at NRG Stadium. "He told me when I'm ready to come back and I'm feeling good to where I want to play, to let him know and that's what I'm going to do."

"He seemed to be moving around decently," O'Brien said. "He didn't take a ton of reps (Friday) but the ones that he did, he seemed to be moving around well. It's obvious that he's been in the meetings and studying, because in the reps that he did take he knew what to do, which is a good sign."

Clowney is at the end of his six-week return timetable. If he doesn't play against Pittsburgh, an Oct. 26 contest at Tennessee is next on the calendar.

It seems like Jadeveon Clowney is going to be a game-time decision leading up to the game on Monday Night. I was sort of expecting that all week long. At least he participated in most of the practice drills yesterday. The Texans play the Steelers and Titans on the road, and then they play the Eagles at home before their bye week.

It would be nice to win at least two of these games if not all three. Ideally it would be huge to go into the bye week with a 6-3 record. That would increase their chances to make the playoffs. There really isn't any margin for error after losing the past two games. If the Texans lose to the Steelers their chances to make the playoffs or clinch a wild-card spot in the AFC go way down.

Jadeveon Clowney at 70 % healthy is still better then Whitney Mercilus at 100 %. He'd be an instant upgrade right now. Another week of not playing would probably be better for him the way it's looking, but at some point he has to shake off the rust and just get in there and hit somebody.

I don't want the 2014 season to go to waste. I still have some hope of the Texans making the playoffs. They need to man up and win these tough games. There weren't any moral victories with one-score losses against the Colts and Cowboys. All that matters are wins. The standings aren't always fair. Beat the Steelers on Monday Night before this season starts to slip away.

The difference between a 4-3 and 3-4 record is pretty significant. We'll know a lot more about this season after the Steelers game.

Brian Cushing is just now returning to 100 % and the all pro he used to be. He's almost there.
The Texans need Watt, Clowney and Cushing all healthy and causing havoc at the same time.
This season isn't over yet in terms of making the playoffs. It will slip away if they lose tomorrow.

The winner of tonight's game will be 4-3 and tied with the Bills for the 7th best record in the AFC with the Chiefs lurking right behind. The Bengals have the final wild-card spot and 6th seed in the AFC for now with their 3-2-1 record. That tie may help them or hurt them by the end of the season.

The Texans control their own destiny though. They can own all the tiebreakers with every potential AFC wild card team if they simply win. They still play the Steelers tonight and the Bengals later in the season. They already beat the Bills, etc... etc... They also have big games left against the Browns and Ravens.

Right now, the most important thing for the Texans is to win tonight. Nothing else will matter if they lose tonight. It's like our entire 2014 season is on the line tonight. Win and we have some playoff hope left. Lose and our 2014 season is pretty much over.

Tonight is just one of many big games to come but it's a must-win game. A lot of pressure for both teams.
The tiebreakers go by head-to-head meetings and then conference record. The Texans still have a chance.

Things wouldn't be so dire had the Texans not lost the past two heartbreakers in a row but that's the situation for tonight.

The latest report on Clowney's status for tonight: Jadeveon Clowney will work out before the game on Monday night and he and the team will then decide if his knee is healthy enough for action against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Is it going to look like a home game for the Texans tonight? A lot of Texans fans went up to Pittsburgh in full force for tonight's game. They actually had more Texans fans at the Cowboys stadium a few weeks ago. And Dallas is arguably the best team in the game right now. I'm not too surprised if it's a good turn out but Pittsburgh is a long way up there. I'd be soooooo cold. LOL

Any section where you can't see a bunch of terrible towels being waved is probably where they'll be at.

Big Ben better go to a silent count in his own stadium like Tony Romo had to do a few weeks ago.

I'm probably the only one on D2jsp who still believes the 4-4 Texans will make the playoffs.
