Nicks didn't go to OTA's because he didn't want to risk injury which makes sense and they were voluntary so no harm.

Lol wtf, I thought there were something big deal like family issues or he ran over a dog or something..

Everyone thought it was contract related, he just wants to stay as healthy as possible this season.

Giants Roster Breakdown #7: Kevin Boothe

Quote
Kevin Boothe will be the Giants' starting left guard in 2013. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

Let's continue our look at the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp next month by discussing starting left guard Kevin Boothe.

2012 Season In Review

Long considered a journeyman, backup-type lineman Boothe took over as the starting left guard in 2012 and performed better than expected. First of all, he started 16 games for the first time in his seven-year career. Pro Football Focus gave him a +9.2 grade, 20th among 81 guards who played at least 25 percent of their team's offensive snaps. Boothe was a consistent, quality performer.

2013 Outlook

Boothe, 29, tested the free-agent market but ultimately returned to the Giants on a one-year contract. He will, undoubtedly, be the starting left guard once again. He also has value as he is currently the team's backup center. After what we saw in 2012, and motivated by needing to play well to ensure someone gives him a job in 2013, there is little reason to expect Boothe won't have another solid season. The question for Boothe is really whether he has a future beyond 2013 with the Giants. with young players like Justin Pugh, James Brewer, Brandon Mosley and Eric Herman around he might not.

Giants Roster Breakdown #8: Kyle Bosworth

Quote
Kyle Bosworth comes to the Giants from Jacksonville with a reputation for being an outstanding special teams player.

As we continue to move through our breakdown of the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp in late July we have come to one of the newest Giants, Kyle Bosworth, a linebacker signed recently as a free agent after spending the first three years of his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

2012 Season In Review

Bosworth played in all 16 games for Jacksonville last season, starting five. He had 37 tackles, a pass defensed and an interception. Bosworth also led the Jaguars with 14 special teams tackles. Bosworth played nine games in 2011 and spent the 2010 season on injured reserve.

2013 Outlook

Bosworth figures to compete for the weak-side (WILL) linebacker job with Spencer Paysinger and Jacquain Williams. Unless there are injuries to those players Bosworth seems most likely to end up as a reserve who makes his biggest impact on special teams -- a role he is familiar with.

Giants Roster Breakdown #9: James Brewer

Quote
Offensive lineman James Brewer is part of the three-headed competition for the right tackle job with the New York Giants.

We continue our breakdown of the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp with a look at a player we focused on a bit during mini-camp, third-year offensive lineman James Brewer.

2012 Season In Review

Brewer saw his first regular-season action in 2012, albeit limited. He played 34 snaps at right tackle or right guard in five games. The 2011 fourth-round pick was exclusively a tackle in college at Indiana, but has added the ability to play guard to his resume.

2013 Outlook

General manager Jerry Reese says "it is time for him (Brewer) to get in there and play' in 2013. Brewer worked at both right guard, where Chris Snee is rehabbing from hip surgery, and right tackle during OTAs and mini-camp. Brewer says "there is a spot to be won" at right tackle, where he is competing with veteran David Diehl and first-round pick Justin Pugh. Whether he wins that job or not, Brewer has become at least a versatile backup for the Giants.

Giants Roster Breakdown #10: Andre Brown

Quote
Andre Brown emerged as a quality running back in 2012. What can the Giants expect from him in 2013?

Let's continue our look at the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp in late July. Here we turn our attention to a player who emerged as a contributor in 2012, and should have a key role in 2013 -- running back Andre Brown.

2012 Season In Review

After bouncing around the league since the Giants drafted him in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft Brown, 6-foot, 240 pounds, finally established himself as a legitimate NFL back. He carried 73 times for 385 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and scored eight touchdowns. Brown still referred to the season as "disappointing," because he broke his leg and finished it on injured reserve. Still, it was a breakout year for the powerful inside runner who had only two NFL carries entering the season.

2013 Outlook

Brown figures to share the running back load with David Wilson. The expectation is that Brown will handle much of the short-yardage and goal-line duties, roles at which he excelled in 2012. If he can stay healthy the 26-year-old should have a productive season as a key part of the Giants' rushing attack.

Giants Roster Breakdown #11: Josh Brown

Quote
Veteran Josh Brown seems like the heavy favorite to win the New York Giants' placekicking job.

Continuing with our look at the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp we look today at Josh Brown, the placekicker the Giants signed to take the spot vacated by Lawrence Tynes.

2012 Season In Review

The 10-year veteran was out of a job at the beginning of last season, and wound up kicking in only four games for the Cincinnati Bengals. Brown showed he still has plenty left, however, making 11-of-12 field-goal attempts with a long of 52 yards. He also had six touchbacks in 23 kickoffs.

2013 Outlook

The 34-year-old Brown was signed to replace Lawrence Tynes, who left via free agency. It would be stunning if Brown did not beat out David Buehler for the placekicking job with the Giants. With 20 field goals of more than 50 yards (in 45 attempts) Brown has a much stronger leg than Tynes, who is 11-of-21 from beyond 50 yards in nine seasons. Brown has made 81.3 percent of his field goals during his career, while Tynes has made 81.5 percent. Brown has missed only once in 10 seasons from 20-29 yards, and makes 30-39-yard field goals at a rate of 87.8 percent. He should do a fine job for the Giants.
