The Texans have injury issues at cornerback going into the Dallas game, but they did get good news on Friday.
Arian Foster is probable, which means he’ll start against the Cowboys barring a setback.
Andre Johnson didn’t practice because of his ankle injury and is listed as questionable.
The problem is at backup cornerback. A.J. Bouye (groin) and Darryl Morris (ankle) are out. They’re the first two corners off the bench.
Rookie Andre Hal is the next man up. Hal, a seventh-round pick from Vanderbilt, made the roster with an outstanding training camp and preseason. He’s excelled on special teams, too.
“He’s improved,” coach Bill O’Brien said after practice today. “He works hard, and he understands the scheme. The way he can improve the most is through experience.”
Andre Hal is going to get a lot of playing experience against the Cowboys. That's asking a lot out of a seventh-round pick but you can't really improve unless you play. Hopefully Andre Johnson will play but we can't afford to "not have him" against the Colts on Thursday night. Losing to Dallas on the road isn't the end of the world if we can beat the Colts on Thursday Night. We'd still be in first place in the AFC South if that happens.
I'm still excited for Sunday's game no matter who is playing. We're going to need Watt, as usual, and Cushing to carry the defense.
