I was disappointed when the Texans weren't fast enough to sign Chad Henne, or even Matt Cassell, during this past free agency. Both of them re-signed and elected to stay where they were. Ryan Fitzpatrick was the last option available at that point. Honestly, we could probably do better with Vince Young or Tim Tebow. They didn't even try and trade for Ryan Mallett despite the rumors leading up to the draft. I still believe we can win some games with Case Keenum but only if everybody is healthy.

Tebow is beyond garbage and there's a reason why he's your local preacher at whatever church he's speaking the word of god at. aka nobody gives a shit.

Henne is a better QB than Cassel and that's not saying much. We're basically counting the days until Bortles is the starting QB.

Worst case scenario: The Texans are horrible again in 2014 and end up with a top five pick. They may draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2015 draft. Three of them are likely going to go high (Marcus Mariota, Brett Hundley and Jameis Winston), but I'm not sure if the Texans would draft Winston with his off-the-field troubles. Owner Bob McNair is very strict on bringing in players with baggage. That is why the Texans have the fewest arrests in the NFL since their expansion season in 2002.

The Houston Texans host the Atlanta Falcons for the second pre-season game inside the newly named NRG Stadium on Saturday Night. Home of the 2017 Super Bowl. It still hasn't sunk in that the stadium is no longer called Reliant Stadium. Maybe the Texans will be mentioned on HBO's "Hard Knocks" because they're the Falcons opponent.

So the Cleveland Browns signed Rex Grossman. I'm assuming to become their third-string quarterback?
He wouldn't have been an upgrade for the Texans? LOL, he played here back in 2009. Rarely saw the field.

Bill O'Brien mentioned today that Andre Johnson, Arian Foster and Brian Cushing will be gametime decisions to play on Saturday Night against the Atlanta Falcons. They're all practicing right now against the Falcons in their joint practice.

I sure hope all three return but I'd rather see them play for an entire half or three quarters next weekend at Denver. It's not likely that they will play more than a couple series or some of the first quarter on Saturday Night. It's hard to evaluate players unless they play a majority of the game.

Everybody in the NFL is doing this for a good cause. Even Bill O'Brien did it a few days ago.

As far as tonight's game against the Falcons, I'm hoping to see Ryan Fitzpatrick perform much better than he did last week. He played the entire first half and looked horrible at Arizona (2 INTs) and the team scored 0 points.

I think it's time for Case Keenum to step up and win the starting job because Fitzpatrick is flat out awful. And obviously Tom Savage is nowhere near ready so Keenum is our best option at quarterback for now. When Ryan Fitzpatrick was young he was somewhat of a gunslinger with some mobility but now he's just a poor man's Matt Schaub to be honest.

Case Keenum at least has some fight inside of him and can at least throw it deep to Andre Johnson.

We should some of the starters playing into the third quarter tomorrow night at Denver. Jadeveon Clowney and J.J. Watt have both been looking really good in the preseason. Some of the Broncos' offensive lineman have praised them during their joint practices.

The Texans need to show some consistency tomorrow night. This is the one preseason game that feels like a regular-season game. I hope Andre Johnson, Arian Foster and Brian Cushing play a little bit just to get back into game shape.

So far in the two preseason games the Texans have lost 32-0 and won 32-7. Ryan Fitzpatrick looked much better against Atlanta and was finding different receivers and tight ends. He does a better job scanning the entire field than I thought he could. He also had a couple of first-down runs and made some plays with his aging feet. I would actually be optimistic about Fitzpatrick if he were younger and actually had some upside. He's probably the smartest quarterback in the league (highest IQ).

I'm expecting the Texans to lose at Denver tomorrow night. Let's face it, they're a Super Bowl contender.

But I think defensively the Texans might make a few plays and the Clowney & Watt combo is tough to block.

Also rookie running Alfred Blue, sixth-round pick out of LSU, seems to be a new fantasy sleeper. He's in the lead to win the backup halfback job and with Arian Foster always nursing some injuries it wouldn't shock me if Alfred Blue is starting some games in 2014. Les Miles called Alfred Blue a first-round talent and an absolute steal during the past draft for the Texans.
