So it sounds like the Giants were fully aware of this issue all along and tried other forms of treatment before opting for surgery. They decided now was the best time because it'll put him right on schedule for the start of the season.

At minimum he should miss most or all of training camp, at worst he might miss week 1 of the regular season but that's worst case scenario they're saying.

Keep in mind Baas and Cordle are the only true centers on the Giants roster, although Boothe can play there, another center for training camp might be helpful.
