The Manning-Murphy Connection.
Quote
Quarterback Eli Manning might have had his fourth-quarter comeback magic dry up last season, but his ability to get the most out of his receivers has shown no signs of slowing down this spring.
The latest to benefit from being on the receiving end of Manning's passes is Louis Murphy, who was signed this past offseason to a one-year contract. The fifth-year veteran has connected with Manning on so many deep passes involving timing patterns that it's almost hard to believe that these are the first weeks the two have actually worked together.
"He's come in and worked really hard," Manning said of Murphy. "Back in early April, going over to Duke and working those days and learning the offense and asking questions and being here in the offseason (have benefitted him).
"He can really run, he can stretch the field and he's got the desire and the commitment to be a good player and to bring another threat to this offense."
Murphy, who has received extra snaps thanks to the absences of Nicks and Cruz, praised Manning for helping to make his transition into the Giants' offense as easy as possible. "He's great," he said. "He's coaching us up and telling me what he sees so we can be on the same page. I'm learning the offense and just learning what he likes, pretty much just learning the plays and getting out there."
REALLY excited to see Murphy in this offense.... that SPEED is going to open up the field
