draino, I actually voted for J.J. Watt #1 overall for 2014 on this thread... Refer to post #10.
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=71117347&f=204I'm just trying not to be a homer for a change and figure out why he fell down to #12 and the only logical explanation I had was his drop in stats and our overall 2-14 season which featured 14 losses in a row. I know it's not his fault given the way he was beat up physically and frustrated all season long with two blockers constantly tying him up. He was a one man force out there despite the circumstances. The fact he produced double-digit sacks was very impressive.
That is exactly why I was in favor of drafting Jadeveon Clowney for the past seven months. Even though you were saying to draft a quarterback number one overall. We all know J.J. Watt is the best defensive player in the game but he needs help around him. We finally have that again so expect 2014 to be another monster year. Perhaps even another 20.5-sack season.
And hopefully from 2014 to 2022 we'll have one of the best defenses in the league. We have something special in place. A ton of young talent defensively with some great coaches on that side of the ball. We have arguably the best defensive player in the game (Watt), the best defensive coordinator in the game (Romeo Crennel), the best defensive lines coach in the game (Bill Kollar) and one hell of a new linebackers coach (Mike Vrabel).
Defensively. the Texans added a lot of young talent both in the draft and through some under-the-radar free agent signings. I'd probably call us a Super Bowl contender if we didn't have such a huge question mark offensively. Quarterback production, Andre Johnson's holdout and weather or not Arian Foster can stay healthy all loom large entering training camp.
