Dre is still under contract for 3 more years. The right thing for us to do is to trade him, but if our QB wants to be successful he needs a great WR like Andre. Sucks to hear this shit. He really wants to win, and he knows it's not gonna happen with us any time soon.

I'm hoping he's just bored and frustrated with the long off-season. It can't be easy playing for a third head coach and yet another mediocre quarterback. Don't forget the Texans are still on an active 14-game losing streak as well. Maybe when the regular season approaches in September he'll be feeling in a good state of mind again. Sunday, September 7 the Texans host the Redskins at the newly named NRG Stadium Week 1. That's the only date that matters for now.

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson says he is "frustrated" with losing in Houston. Johnson questions whether the Texans are still the right fit at this point in his career.

I believe the NFL will set its trading deadline for the 2014 season in late October (around Halloween) just like last year.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/schedule/_/name/hou/houston-texans

So looking at the schedule the Texans will have played eight games and finished half their season by then. We'll know if we're truly rebuilding or in the playoff hunt at that point in time. If Andre Johnson is still frustrated and the Texans aren't a winning team maybe the Texans can work a trade involving him before the trading deadline midway in the season.

But regardless, he's definitely going to start the 2014 season on the Texans roster. He's under contract for three more seasons and it's unlikely he'll just retire. And trading him right now would be difficult because of the salary cap implications it has on the Texans. He'd be easier to trade near the trading deadline when only half his base salary is owed for the remainder of the season.

Hopefully we're 7-1, 6-2 or 5-3 after 8 games and he'll be happy with the team winning and being in the playoff race and he will not ask to be traded. Looking at our first eight games on the schedule, I believe 5-3 is a reasonable expectation if we ride a healthy Arian Foster on offense and our young defense starts to become a dominating unit.

PDS @PatDStat
Savage's most impressive throws were from far hash across the field to receivers in stride outside the numbers. #Texans

Jadeveon Clowney (90) runs a drill with the linebackers.

Nose tackle Louis Nix arrives to rookie camp weighing a slim 338 pounds.

Defensive line coach, Bill Kollar, runs nose tackle Louis Nix through some drills.

LOL, the intensity of Bill Kollar just from a May practice. You would think it's a week before a big game.

I have no doubts that Jadeveon Clowney (ROLB) and Louis Nix (NT) will both start as rookies from day one.
Jeoffrey Pagan, has a chance to win the starting job at RDE, but he's dealing with a shoulder injury right now.

He's at practice now and already signed, as most of our rookies are, but he's limited at the moment until his shoulder is 100 %. That shoulder injury is the reason the Texans were able to draft that Alabama stud in the sixth round. He was projected as a late second, early third-round pick otherwise. He sacked the mobile Johnny Manziel twice in one game during a SEC showdown last year.

Jadeveon Clowney runs some drills with linebackers coach Mike Vrabel.

Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel: "I've had talented defenses before that I won three Super Bowls with in New England. I also worked with some high quality players in Cleveland and Kansas City but never one with this much young talent on it. J.J. Watt and Brian Cushing are the team captains for our defense, and I expect the rookies will follow their guidance on and off the field. We have a chance to accomplish something special here."

“I’m not talking about anything in the past,” said Bullough, who had been projected as high as a third-round pick. “I’m looking forward to the future with the Texans.”

Inside linebacker Max Bullough out of Michigan State has a good chance to make the team because the Texans depth the past few years at that position has been very thin once Brian Cushing had season-ending injuries. He went undrafted because of some off-the-field problems during his senior year. He was suspended for the Rose Bowl and arrested multiple times for getting into fights. If he can keep his head on straight he's the type of linebacker that Mike Vrabel can coach up.

The Texans have a handful of rookies on the defensive side of the ball that are intriguing prospects. They were very lucky to end up with Jeoffrey Pagan and Max Bullough, to go along with Jadeveon Clowney and Louis Nix. I can't wait for the Texans 2014 season opener at home against the Redskins on September 7. So close yet so far away it seems like.

What do you think is a realistic trade? I'm expecting a team like the pats to swoop in with a 4th rounder

Draino and I actually discussed this during the season and in his words he realistically expects "2 first rounders, AT LEAST" -> the "at least" made me chortle. Draino seems to believe teams are going to come banging down the door for a 33 year old WR when a 28 year old Brandon Marshall got dealt for 2 third rounders
