Jags extend gus Bradley's contract by one year.
I like this play by David caldwell and shad. I think gus could be a good coach and the team is starting to turn the corner. Maybe after we draft some guys things could really start looking up.
Dare I say playoff contention next year?? :)
Edit- and of course should gus not work out next year, a one year extention is easy to move on from
They better be in playoff contention next season, and not because the AFC South leader only has 4 wins, 2/3's of the way through the season.
The extension is pretty meaningless. The team still has to win in 2016, or Gus will get the boot. I understand the extension though because Shad and Caldwell have usually been ahead of the curve so far. The extension will take away the distraction of Gus being a "lame duck coach on a one year contract". The players and staff don't need to be taking, or answer questions about that. It's all just a big distraction.
It could also help sway some FAs, who might not want to come here because the HC was on a 1 year deal. Most players will want the $$ anyways, so it's just a small thing, but it could help sway some.
Personally, I would have preferred him to play out his final year, but I can understand the reasoning behind it. It in no way insures his job is safe for 2 years though. There's absolutely no excuses in 2016.
Also, Todd Wash who was promoted up as the DC, said that they'll play Fowler all over the place. That he wont just be a standard LEO. He wont just put his hand in the dirt every play on the weak side, but he'll play inside and outside on the DL. As well as standing up and rushing from the LB position.
