That's going to be interesting then...

If your offense picks up & Gabbert proves to be a franchise QB that makes things very interesting in the AFC South. Schaub will be back... Colts will have either Peyton or Luck... very very interesting

Who do you realistically see you picking up? or targeting?

Gabbert can't get any worse LMAO. If he does then... holy facepalm. It didn't help that his Receivers dropped over 40 balls last season though :-/

It all depends on who gets Tagged and who gets to hit the Market. Our GM really liked Vincent Jackson coming out of College, so maybe he could be somebody he'd target. I'd really like if they went after Stevie Johnson, if Bills don't tag/resign him. I would think they would target Colston, but I don't think the Saints are going to let him go. I think Meachem is gone from the Saints, so maybe him. Harry Douglas could be somebody they might go after, because we have no Speed at all, at WR and he's a burner. Manningham could be somebody as well.

It's really hard to say man. We need AT LEAST 2 new WRs on this team next season. If we score 2 in FA, I could see them taking a shot on a 3rd one in the draft, maybe somebody like Brian Quick. If we only sign one in FA, then it's obvious they'll have to draft at least one. There needs to be 2 new WRs on this team for next season, without question.

we need to put our effort into the draft.

Wasting money in FA is a waste, just look at the Eagles and most teams that try and build through FA (Redskins).
The consistent teams build through the draft.

It's only a waste if you throw a bunch of money at guys who don't fit into your system.

Was throwing money at Poz a waste at MLB? What about Dawan Landry at SS? What about Session at WLB? He was really starting to pick it up before he got put on IR because of concussions. Smith/Poz/Session gives us the best 4-3 LB trio in the NFL. We got a steal in the Dwight Lowery trade. We gave up a 7th round pick for a very good player. You can bet your ass that Jet fans wish they still had him right now. Lowery and Landry gives us a very good Safety group. If we don't resign Lowery, it'll be a huge mistake. Those guys helped turn our Defense into a Top Defense this past season.

My point is, if you target players who will jump right into your system, who fit and jell with the other guys who are already there. It's not a waste at all.

I agree 100% that we have to build through the draft, but if we don't sign a true #1, Vet WR on this team, we're going to continue to have problems in the Passing game. We simply do not have a #1 or #2 WR on this roster. We have a bunch of #3s and #4s right now. You don't build through FA, but you acquire through FA and that's what we need to do.

Getting solid players in FA is smart. I don't like going after "playmakers" in the FA market because the risk is too high and there are more instances of a bad deal than a great playmaker.

I also think trades are very different than big FA signings. There is usually a reason a FA isn't being pursued heavily by the former team but a trade is different because the team is getting something in return.
The jags shouldn't be too eager to spend the money just because they have it. They need to make sound decisions and build depth. We need to get some talent that can develop with Blaine. He will be here for the long haul so yea get him some playmakers, but let's do it through the draft.

But we HAVE to get a play maker at the WR position on this team. I would prefer Stevie Johnson or Bowe the most. I really do like Stevie a lot and he's young. I like V Jackson as well because he's a legit big target and he can run. He's going to want a lot of money and he's a little older though. I agree we have to get younger WRs who can grow with Gabbert. Our GM Gene Smith is a good GM. I trust he'll go after the right guys.
