We finally made it to draft day. The anticipation is already long gone and replaced with anxiousness. I can't wait for tonight!
With the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft...The Houston Texans select... I don't want to jinx it but you know who I want.

Andrew Luck is probably hoping the Texans trade the first overall pick or draft Khalil Mack instead.

Clowney: I don't think the Texans pass on me

It's starting to leak out on the local sports-talk radio shows that the Houston Texans will draft Jadeveon Clowney number one overall tonight. Their asking price in a trade is basically three first-round picks (2014, 2015 and 2016), which would include a swap of first-round picks in this draft, or two first-round picks mixed in with multiple twos and threes in this draft and the next. That is something other teams are unwilling to give up. We'll see but I never had the inclination that the Texans were serious about making a trade. I knew their asking price would be "give us the world" or no deal.

Houston is now locked in on its player and is not expecting a trade, per sources. Texans happy to sit at 1 and take player it wants.

It's such a long shot. But then again I'm sure George and Barbara Bush would love that. Hardcore Texans and Aggies fans.
I'm thinking at this point it's 80 % Clowney, 15 % Mack and 5 % Manziel. We're nearly four hours away until the clock starts!

We have a chance to draft Derek Carr at pick #33 tomorrow night. Let's do it. Otherwise we trade down? Make a trade for Ryan Mallett? I trust Bill O'Brien to coach up any quarterback. Derek Carr is capable of being better than any of the quarterbacks we currently have on the roster.

The Texans may also elect to keep stacking the defense with the 33rd pick tonight. We need a big nose tackle.

We're going to need that nasty big body up there in the trenches, hopefully taking on multiple blockers, playing next to J.J. Watt while Jadeveon Clowney cleans up the other side and Brian Cushing dominates the middle of the field.



Really good kid. I wouldn't mind the Texans drafting him tonight. It makes a lot of sense especially if the Texans pursue that Ryan Mallett trade. That's probably why they didn't trade back up into the first round to snag Bridgewater or Manziel. They may be going defense with the first pick in the second round.
