HEID, one day before the draft tomorrow night and I'm just not hearing anything at all that the Texans will draft Johnny Football. It's looking less likely every hour that goes by. It's pretty much down to Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack should they use the first overall pick. I'm finding it hard to believe they will trade the pick because no team is going to offer them enough. And I don't like the idea of falling too far down even if it's only to pick #6 where the Falcons are at.

Unless the Texans are deceiving everybody and have done a good job keeping their desire to draft Johnny Manziel a major secret. Where do you think he's going to end up? I think the Cleveland Browns at pick #4 would be a good landing spot for him. The Rams at #2 could still take him even though it's unlikely. I doubt the Jaguars will select him at pick #3 but that would be fun to face him twice a year.

The Texans are most likely not going to draft a quarterback tomorrow night unless we trade back up into the first round. We'll have to wait until the start of the second round on Friday Night. Rounds two and three will be held on Friday Night so we'll see. I can't wait for tomorrow night.

I think by default we're going to be much improved in 2014 just by having a healthy Arian Foster and Brian Cushing. If our defense can develop rather quickly, into a top 5 dominating unit that can force a lot of turnovers and rush the passer, we should compete for an AFC wild card spot. And that's with Ryan Fitzpatrick or Case Keenum starting at quarterback. No matter which quarterback we draft the Texans shouldn't have to start him right away. Bill O'Brien can coach up his own guy for the future.

Clowney, with a smile, on Texans: 'I don't think they're going to pass'

Jadeveon Clowney on potentially playing with J.J. Watt: "That'd be great. I always watched him play when I was in college," Clowney said while taking in the NFL Play 60 Youth Football Festival at Chelsea Waterside Park. "Being right beside [Watt] would be even better. He's like a role model to me -- I look up to him when I watch him play."

ESPN's Ed Werder reporting that the Texans are actively pursuing a trade with the Atlanta Falcons and "other teams"

I still believe the asking price for the 1st overall pick will drop closer we get. ATL want to keep '14 2nd rnd pick but plenty of options..

Also, the Rams at 2nd overall open for business. ATL could go to 2nd pick for Mack. Further hurts HOU leverage. I still smell a trade

I asked Greg Robinson what teams have shown the most interest in him. He named the Falcons and also said 'St. Louis really liked me.'

Would not be surprised at all if ultimately a 2015 1st round pick and a 2014 3rd is enough to go from 6th to 1st. Stay tuned

Bottom line is no one is buying Texans are locked in on a guy at 1, know they could get QB at 6 or lower. Asking price will drop I reckon

The Falcons' first-round pick in 2015? No thanks. That may be #25 to #30

It's a risky proposition for the Texans to drop down to #6 in this draft. Khalil Mack isn't a guarantee to drop that far and he's the guy they are very high on besides Jadeveon Clowney. They'd be settling for Blake Bortles at that point. I don't even think Johnny Manziel will still be on the board. The problem is the Texans already have a ton of picks in this draft. I don't see the value of making a trade with the Falcons, a team that is going to be good in 2014. Their 2015 first-round pick isn't going to be that high.

see this is what i was saying today... cant do much worse, no way only 2 wins unless we're the new browns. saw the lions get suh/fairley and seems like its working well... clowney would be fun. i just think that, since no major news in hunting down a qb, theres any way the texans are trying to be sneaky and lock up manziel. take someone later and let them and keenum duke it out in preseason. with a healthy foster, you can wing it through 2 wins minimum imo (hopefully)
