Quick question about last night's game though: When it was apparent the Saints were in easy field goal range for their kicker down one point. I would say at the two-minute warning and the Eagles only had one timeout left. Why didn't Chip Kelly instruct his defense to let them score a Touchdown?
The Eagles defensive players should have just engaged in blocks or fell down. The Saints had another hard run to the right that almost broke loose for the Touchdown but they tackled him instead. At that point the game was over. If the Saints had scored a Touchdown they would have gone up 29-24 and went for the two-point conversion. Even if they make it and go up seven points at least Nick Foles would have had enough time for one final drive.
I'm not sure how many head coaches would have done that but the odds of blocking a field goal or missing it from that close of a distance aren't good especially with no timeouts to even set up a block or ice the kicker. You have a better chance of scoring a Touchdown with around 1:45 left in the game and one timeout left. And if the Saints had missed the two-point conversion a Touchdown with one final drive could have won the game for the Eagles.
Anyways, tough playoff loss. I feel bad for jackzors who went to the game.
Because letting someone score a touchdown won't work lol. They would run to the 1 yard line down themselves and take knees and make it an even easier FG..
