Panthers are in that unenviable position of being too good to get a #1 pick and too bad to compete for the playoffs. Idk what this move really does for them.

I could see a scenario where the Panthers recoup a 4th or maybe even 3rd round compensatory pick in FA if he plays well and then signs elsewhere, but I kind of doubt that happens tbh.

I guess it also tells you a little more about how good/bad Matt Rhule is, although idk how much more Intel is really needed to realize he's mediocre and not worth his contract
