That Thielen contract isn't much better. He hasn't been the same player since he signed that deal and Kirk has been a far more productive player than Thielen was at the same points of their careers. I don't understand why people think a 25 year old has already hit his peak lol. Thielen was already 24 when he entered the NFL.

edit: also, Kirk had 982 yards last year, lets not act like that's a far cry from 1k. That'd be like bragging about DJ Chark being great because he hit 1,008 yards one season.


the only out of the kirk contract is still 2 years 39 mil with a 10 mil dead cap hit. so nearly 2 years 50 mil for a wr who never had 1000 yards or over 6 tds in a season is massive overpay.

I'm not hyping anything up. I said that it was overpay from the start, that's how it goes. I also said it's foolish to think a 25 year old has already hit his peak.

Salary cap continues to go up, players get paid more. Market gets reset multiple times every off season. Kirk's $18m AAV is overpay, just like Adams' new $28.3m AAV is overpay. Adams is great, but he isn't worth QB $$$. Just like Kirk isn't worth his $18m. Kirks like the 10th highest AAV WR with this new deal. Next year he'll be like 15th+. Year after that it'll be like 20th+ etc etc.

Honestly I'd rather them spend the money (we had a boat load of it) to ensure we get somebody who will help improve this team, rather than low balling everybody and end up with dudes like Phillip Dorsett and Carlos Hyde on day 1 of FA like they did last year.

Season long bets are also dumb for the most part.

Oh I agree, I don't think Adam's contract is good at all, even if he is arguably the best WR in the league, no way anyone other than a QB should get paid in that range unless you are Aaron Donald
