Yeah except basketball you get to watch some of the most freakishly athletic/tall/large athletes in the world elevate and posterize each other on the regular.

Soccer is a fucking gay sport, period. I actually semi-enjoyed that USA game today (for soccer standards), but otherwise it's full of soft ass mother fuckers. I respect it can be a difficult sport at times (like any professional sport), but it's boring as fuck really.

I know a lot of people will take offense to it, but good lord is that sport full of shit. The game clock counts up, and doesn't stop at timeouts? REALLY? How weird can you get? How about you have the game clock count down like a NORMAL fucking sport, and you pause the game clock at timeouts and injuries like a NORMAL sport?

Plus, the REFS DON'T EVEN TELL YOU HOW MUCH TIME IS ADDED ON ROFL. Talk about a load of shit..

We don't care how popular it is in Europe or elsewhere, nobody in the USA really gives a fuck about it besides when team USA is in it. Otherwise, i'd rather watch paint dry. Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey > Soccer

-Peace

I'll ignore the rest of the BS...but to the bolded, did you actually watch a game or not? Because they tell everyone exactly how much extra time will be given.

I did watch it, they stand on the sideline and hold a sign up?

But they don't continually tell people, like we have to look at a guy on the side line to tell us? Wtf...it's 2014, why are you relying on that?

Plus, the refs decide on how much time is added. Nothing is official, they just kinda add what they want and it's really a crap shoot.

I gained a little respect for soccer watching this recently, it's a tough sport and i enjoyed watching team USA but I really don't see why the rules are set up the way they are. I feel like they could maximize the game more by being more straight forward with the clock and all.

Continually tell you what? They tell you how much extra time will be given and the clock is continuously running...I'm lost here. To another point...it would be kind of weird if any but the refs decided on extra time.

Why do they not show on the screen how much extra time was given though?

That's the weirdest part, no other sport do they just tell you then let you figure it out yourself.

They do tell you...

Notice the +5 next to the clock? That means 5 minutes of stoppage time and the game will end at ~95mins.

I think he means like a shot clock how it counts down so when it goes into extra time you know exactly how many seconds are left till the games over.

I wish there were more Arena Football games. Football is still football. This long and boring off-season can't go by fast enough.

i find it funny that it's fourth or so on our list of sports, i can't imagine what some of our athletes could do in soccer. Aside from the goalie, they looked like children compared to them waffle makers.

The time doesn't stop in football (soccer) to enhance the fluidity of the game, it's been discussed time and time again, as well as the option to have a certain amount of 'timeouts'/challenges throughout games, as it's seen in the NFL.
Problem is that european football fans love the intensity you can get from a game where a team is chasing, where you aren't forced to wait second because the clock has to stop at certain times or the winning side is able to slow down the play of game by pausing the game.

In Europe game clocks goes up, not down, that's an american way of doing things and yea, it works really well for the kind of sports that you're playing, but it just wouldn't work in Europe due to the way things has been done historically.

And the last statement i've quoted makes absolutely no sense and just proves how much you actually pays attention to the game.
The added time is announced by the 4th official on the sideline, when it's announced the stadium announcer makes the announcement over the stadium speakers in order to tell the players as well as fans on the stadium about the time remaining.
