I'd rather the texans go after melvin bullitt than manning, but hopefully manning proves me wrong.

I felt the same way about Jonathan Joseph, compared to Nnamdi or Cromartie. Felt they jumped the gun on that signing just because his agent agreed. They should have waited an extra day or two. But they would have risked losing out on everybody. Adding Joseph and Manning is still a huge upgrade for the secondary. Hopefully it's enough to save Kubiak's job this season. It's pretty much playoffs or bust for the Texans in 2011.

I felt the same way, but at least Nnamdi went to an NFC team that the Texans will not play anytime soon. 2015, he'll be 34 years old.

Joseph is what, 27? We'll still see some of his prime years coming up. Only upside I see with him. He reminds me a lot of Dunta Robinsin though. Which can be a good or bad thing. A lot depends on how healthy he is and how hungry he'll be.

I'll know halfway into the season if he's the real deal or not. I didn't watch him play a lot with the Bengals. He's getting paid like a shutdown corner.

Texans pretty much have to start the season 2-0 because they've got a tough schedule as always. I'll settle for 6-4 at the bye week. That would still be in the playoff hunt with six games left. It would give them a fighting chance. It's reasonable to think the Texans can go 4-2 in their final siz games.

I don't know if 10-6 will be enough for the playoffs. Some years it is and some years it's not.

I've got the Texans sweeping the Jaguars this year, home and road. Pretty much agree on the other picks. It would be nice if they're able to pull off a huge upset against the Saints or Steelers the first four weeks of the season. A lot will depend on how fast Wade Phillips can get the defense to be playing at a high level every week. They need to become a top 10 unit.

I'll tell you this much... 9 wins isn't going to be good enough for anything. That may be enough to save Gary Kubiak's job but he should be fired if there is no playoff appearance in 2011. This is his 6th season at head coach. A .500 record (2007 and 2008) or even a 9-7 winning record (2009) isn't going to cut it. Houston fan want results and by that I mean playoffs, not an average team.

Who is that linebacker the Texans signed yesterday? I knew they would bring somebody else in. Just for depth and special teams.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans have signed free agent linebacker Tim Dobbins.

The 6-foot-1, 246-pound Dobbins was a fifth-round pick by San Diego in 2006. He played four seasons with the Chargers before he was traded to Miami during the 2010 draft. He was cut by the Dolphins last Monday. Dobbins has played in 78 games with 16 starts. He has 196 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and four forced fumbles. He played in all 16 games last season, including six starts. He finished with 43 tackles and a sack.

At least he played in all 16 games last year. Doesn't seem like the kind of player who has a lot of injuries.
